95 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2 Check engine came on last week, began running rough. Found number six fuel injector wire was partially cut thru because of heater hose rubbing on it. Repaired no. six injector harness. Still no voltage at harness. Code 27 coming from computor. I am thinking maybe pcm was damaged because of short at injector harness. Injector is good, I tested it with harness from neighboring harness. Please help. Thank you.

You need to begin tracing harness wire that has no power, back to the computer. If you can locate the wire at the computer, first check it there. If no signal from the computer at the pin, then change computer.

Rough idle random cylinder misfire

misfires are more from problem injectors, low fuel pressure or injector wiring than from plugs
have a fuel pressure test done to check for problem pressure regulator , problem fuel pump , blocked m/dirty filter
one other area of concern is the EVAP system where the purge valve doesn't vent the tank properly and causes low fuel flow rates

My 1998 jeep grand cherokee will cut on and 5 seconds later, it will cut off??? any suggestions? and i looked on some forums and thought it could be the O2 sensor or crankshaft sensor?

It is also a possibility. Check if you have rough idling when you do get the engine running and check if can keep it running if you step on the gas. You may have a dirty idle air control valve. Check also for loose vacuum lines and wiring as well. If you have a spare carb cleaner, have it sprayed in to the intake of the engine while revving. There might be just dirt in the system or the MAF sensor.

If you can, have a scanner connected to the car. It may have errors stored in its computer.

You probably have a dead cylinder. like if you have a six cylinder it might be running on only five. could be because of a bad spark plug, ignition coil, fuel injector, plug wire. you should get it checked out.

Engine runs fine when started, put it in reverse and it starts to

probably neither. You should do a compression check, and check your transmission fluid for dicoloration and metal shavings.

Very rough idle on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition V8

If you haven't changed the plugs or had the fuel system cleaned, now would be a good time to do it. The number 1 culprit for rough idles is dirty injectors or plugs. You can try an injector cleaner in a can (or bottle) for under $10 and see if it helps, and then work from there. If there isn't any improvement then if you are able to, check the plugs for any gunky buildup and if you find a bad plug, make sure you replace them all (or have them replaced) at the same time.

Error Code 27 for 1994 Jeep

adding If you are getting correct pulses to the injectors, you can try 3oz of acetone and 1oz of marvel oil to each 10 gal of gas your fuel for the next few fill-ups...this will safely clean injector nozzles, providing they aren't worn out or internally binding.Your injectors are triggered by the computer, so check the plugs and wiring to make sure nothing is loose or shorting. There is much more to this, but it's a good place to begin.
