SOURCE: IAC Valve Location - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The idle air control valve is located on the back of the throttle body. It has an oval electrical connector and two torx screws holding it in. Unplug the connector, remove the two screws then lightly tap the body with a soft faced mallet to loosen it from the body.
Once you have it out and prior to installing a new valve clean the seat inside the throttle body where the idle control fits. This must be very clean! Installation is in the reverse order.
To save some cash, pull the valve out and clean it with throttle body cleaner, this usually fixes the problem for quite a while.
Good luck and hope this helps.
SOURCE: what does the code 43 mean on a 1996 jeep grand
Trouble code P0043 means: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1, Sensor 3)Hex code 43 is for a misfire.
DTC 43 indicates a cylinder misfire, but does not specify which cylinder is misfiring. To pinpoint which cylinder is misfiring, you need a scan tool and get the "P" code, as you can see in the chart below. So it is quite possible you're barking up the wrong tree.
If you go to an Autozone they will scan the codes for you, if the CEL is currently on, and tell you the DTCs they find. That will get you closer to the problem.
I'm fairly confident that if you do a complete tune-up, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, that the misfire codes will be taken care of. Be sure you read this, Dodge Ram 1500 Running Rough before replacing the spark plug wires, or if you have already replaced them.
Hope this help (remember comment and rated this)..

Your ABS system (automatic braking system) is designed to cause a rapid pulsing of the brakes when fully applied to prevent skidding by releasing a locked wheel and then re-applying pressure many times a second. It can be diagnosed using a scanner. The light being on tells you there is a fault in that system.
The reason that the brakes feel fine is that when the abs has a fault, it reverts back to a "standard" braking system. While it is perfectly safe to drive it that way, in many states it will not pass inspection with the light on. The abs system does offer a bit more of a stopping margin than a regular brake but if you have driven for a long time with "normal" brakes, it can sometimes be difficult to adjust to how abs works. I personally am more comfortable without ABS but do recognize its value especially to a new driver.
Have it scanned and you likely will be able to locate the problem!!
