You will most likely need to pull the fuel tank out and replace the fuel module.

Have problem with sender unit,it sticks at quater full, gives false reading miles left,

most likely you will need to pull fuel pump assembly. might as well change the whole thing once in there and it was save time later

BMW X5 fuel gauge doesnt register gas in tank

Very expensive. Try all of the above. If they all fail then last resort is a complete system reset. Disconnect battery for 8 hrs. Reconnect and start car. Do not lock doors or else leave a window open when you do this. Car will not unlock or allow you to open any hood liftgate etc without battery.

My bmw x5 2002 will not start. well it starts then stops about 15 r so seconds later. it has done this before but it started back up. at this time i was low on gas, i then filled up and it didnt happen...

We had a 2001 X5. When the Fuel gauge hit 1/4, it was time to fill up or you were stranded. I think it's the pump if it is below 1/4. We also received error engine codes when this happened. All you have to do after you refuel is to reset the code (drive with the code for awhile, it will reset after a few miles) and you're alright. The pump is somewhat expensive to change out if you take it to the dealer.

Hi, i have a 2005 bmw x5 and the speedo and fuel consumption gauge are not working. all other instruments are working. thanks

could just be the sensors so check them out with a automotive meter for feed to the tank gauge and then jack car up read for a low voltage output from the speed sensor and if they have power and appear to work then its a new speedo head --- ouch--- expensive

Today while I was driving, The instrument where it telles you how many miles left till empty read 27mi. all of a sudden it started counting down rapidly, within seconds it had went from 27 mi to 4mi left...

Sounds like float in fuel tank is sticking. Usually caused by using cheap gas. Fill it up and add a bottle of STP gas treatment. It might take more then one tankful w/STP to clean it completely. TIP: don't rely on the computer generated "mileage left" especially when that low on fuel, that is only an estimate. And also don't let it get that low on a regular basis because it will damage your fuel pump, fuel is used to cool electric pump in fuel tank and running it that low will shorten the life of your fuel pump.

When gas tank is 1/4 full and I fill it up it doesn't show I have a full tank until I drive 15 miles.

Normal. There is a resister in the fuel level circuit that slows down fuel level readings. A gauge that responded instantly to a sloshing fuel level every time you went over a bump or around a turn would drive you crazy.

2002 BMW 325 gas gauge problem?

Those vehicles have to sending units. Your fuel signal is buferred ( calculate) so it takes both signals to make your gauge accurate. sounds like one them is out of range causing your gauge to read icorrect. You do need to take to your nearest BMW shop, so it can be properly diagnose.

Gas gauge is moving back and forth.

hello! there, fuel gauge not accurately reading or registering your actual fuel, this can spend costly so much on refueling of gas due to worries on drying of tank.there are factor to check on fuel sensor this maybe malfunction,or check the fuel lever sensor this was located on your fuel tank,This should be done on car service center
not by yourself this is due to hard work besides fuel is flammable in small spark of igniton by a certain object.be sure to take all necessasry precaution on doing this.so its beteer qualified mechanic to this.thanks and regads..

I have 2001 bmw x5 4.4i, fuel gage

The fuel tank sensor is probably malfunctionibng. This sensor is located in the fuel tank. When the sensor receives a signal from the fuel tank level, this is being transferred to the fuel gauge
