Sounds like it's grounded out somewhere. Check your connections and wiring. Make sure there aren't any breaks in your wires and all your grounds are to the frame.

SOURCE: tail lights and dash lights not working

the relays are usually adjacent to the fuses or on rear of fuse panel relays are different coloured as to what they control and are small square boxes which have flat terminals on one side for plug into a preset circuit if you have h/book it will give the info you req or tel dealer spares dept and enquire cost//colour// location? this is a simple diy hope this helps you? ps you do not mention if license plate lights are working as these are on rear light s same circuit

SOURCE: Day time running light problem

The problem with the DRL issue describd in the above posts is the DRl module(it needs to be replaced). The buzzing relay and intermittent on/off of passenger side DRl are indicators that the module needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: Tail lights and dash lights not working, due to headlight install

I have the same problem in an 88 Accord. I found that if I slowly turn the light switch, there is a sweet spot in between the the parking light and headlight on position (around halfway in between or so.) where all will work. The problem is , when I might a right turn signal, it turns the dash and brake lights out again and I have to refind that sweet spot. Not very safe, so we don't drive that car at night.
I was told by a mechanic that the issue is a relay or switching mechanism located in the steering column.

Installed led tailghts [ 4]cruise stopped working book says I need LED relay where can I get this-do I need 4 one for each lite

I am wondering which book told you this?

An led lamp that is designed to operate from 12 volts consumes far less current than the conventional lamp and so no conventional relay would be needed.

A single led requires much less than the 12 volt supply and if connected directly it would be damaged but by wiring many in a combination of series and parallel circuits and perhaps with a series resistor reliable operation is achieved. The benefits of led lamps is they operate cooler and consume less current and are not sensitive to vibration or thermal shock like standard bulbs.

It is the reduced current that is a problem. On-car systems such as bulb-check systems and anything that might be connected to the stop lights measure the current each circuit consumes and expect to "see" the current used by a couple of bulbs flowing along the wire. Led lamps will not cause even the current of half a bulb to flow and so the concerned systems become confused and useless.

I suspect the "relay" is simply a device to fool the on-car systems into believing there are still bulbs in the lamps, perhaps simply by consuming current.
I think you will need to ask questions of the people who supplied the led lamps...

Headlights flash when brakes used. Overcome by turning headlights on but then stop light on spoiler sometimes comes on. Cruise control cuts out without touching brakes. recent history was blown brake...

make sure the previously replaced bulb was the correct one and is installed correctly. it is a short between the tail light circuit and brake light circuit, this could even be a faulty bulb or bulb holder, the cruise will cut out if the brake light comes on, even if you dont touch the brakes

01 Hyundai Elantra - Cruise Control Doesn't Work w/ Headlights On

I had same problem (cruise control/dashboard lights) for the past month with my 2000 Elantra. Replace the tail lights bulbs - my problem was caused by a problem with the double filament within the bulb. Essententially, there was a short when I turned on the lights or hit the brakes.

I did this last night and everything is working properly now.

I have a 2001 Focus station wagon. the cruise control will not engage. And the high beams will not stay on (I can flick them, but they won't stay). Are these loose switches of some sort, that I could...

I would check the easy things first. That is the brake switch and the clutch switch (manual trans). Drive down the road and pull the brake pedal up with your foot and then try to set the cruise (same with the clutch pedal). Also the cruise requires that the brake light bulbs be in working order (and that there are no LED brake lights). Check fuse numbers 53 54 and 59.
The high beam problem might be related to the cruise issue, but I can't think of a reason why.
