SOURCE: 1998 Saturn will not start.

try an old fashioned boost from another car using booster cables.or use a battery charger and allow it to charge for 30minutes. either way you choose,if you choose the boost off allow the booster car to run while cables are connected to your car battery, your battery may just be completely dead. after connecting the cables, positive to positive, and negative to negative, allow the booster car to run for 10minutes before you attempt to start your car.this will allow time for your car battery to slightly charge enough to start.if this does'nt work then check for a bad starter.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

SOURCE: I posted this a little bit ago but forgot to

check to make sure yu have 12v at the battery, once you do turn the ignition to start, if nothing, check the fuse and relays that control ignition, if all is good then the click sound is coming from the starter, have the solenoid replace.

try locking and unlocking the car with the remote, maybe a anti-theft issue?? what do you mean" tries to start?" either the engine turns over or it doesnt. if it turns over, but wont run, thats another story.

2006 Volvo 2.4 5 spd. Key stuck in the ignition will not turn over no start no lights on in the dash nothing cranks. Clicking sound from underneath the glove compartment.

Make sure your battery has a full charge. Might be the shifter interlock solenoid just doesn't have enough power to release and let the key switch rotate to release the key.

My 2001mazada tribute has been sitting for six months when i try to start it nothing happens not even clicking.I have charged the battery and have power to the car but still does nothing

If you're not getting any kind of a click with a turn of the key it sounds to me like the starter is not getting power. If you turn the key to the start position and don't hear anything, not even a click it's usually because the starter is not getting power, or it has seized. Try swapping the starter relay with another similar relay to test it. If that doesn't do the trick, remove the starter and take it to any parts store to have it tested for free. (it is also possible that the battery only has enough juice to power the lights and not engage the starter after sitting for six months...I know you said you charged it, but if you happen to take the starter to have it tested, do the same for the battery.)

I can't start the engine. The battery is almost fully charged. I need to turn the key for about 3 or more times to start the engine.

If you turn key to START position, what is the sound, is it;
1. no sound at all means maybe starter problem.
2. only heard Tik sound means starter problem (you can add relay but it will still happen in future)
3. crank sound but not start means battery weak.

You can also try to move gearshift to N instead of at P position before turn key to START. if it work mean your car safety switch at gearbox not know which gear you're on.

Ignition key turns, but nothing happens, no clicking or any sounds, like no power going to starter.

check your battery for charge you may need to boost it off or charge it. pull head lights on is good test to see some charge, see if lights dim when you try to start it.hope this helps!!!

Nothing happens when i turn the key lights and wipers work clicking noise under gear shift

Sounds like the starter solenoid, which is part of the starter.
You wil need a meter or a 12 volt test light to tell for sure, otherwise it's a guess.

My battery died and after replacing the battery nothing happens

Did you mean there is NO sound from the starter? The question says there is now sound from the starter. If it is a quick clicking noise, the new battery needs to be charged. Try getting a jump start for it or returning the battery, it should have come charged already. Not a good sign, these things sometimes bought new come with bad cells.

I have a 1997 Grand Am 2.4 SE that won't start

Check battery full charge, battery terminals are clean, cables aren't cracked, broken or corroded and alternator first.

Which your having replaced your starter with new already. If you're still getting nothing it sounds like a bad ignition switch.

They wear normally and need to be replaced. But as a helpful hint don't place excess keys or weighty trinkets on your ignition keys.

They wear on the seating of the key in the ignition and often promote failure in the ignition from bearing the dangling weight.

2001 Chevy Impala won't start

If the battery has gone dead, it could cause the security system to go into full lock-up mode. If it has locked up the accessories will work after the battery is charged back up , but the power to the starter will be cut off and it wont turn over. You need to do the 30 minute learn procedure. A GM dealer will print it out for you and you can do it yourself. It's very simple if you follow the procedure exact. hope this helps and good luck.
