96 Subaru wagon stalling

I have a 1996 Subaru Outback wagon. It is a 135 cid with 16 valve. It starts no problem and idles for a couple of minutes but then stalls. It will start right back up no problems but just dies again after a couple of minutes. The car is not going on the road , I'm using it for a demolition derby car so if there is a quick fix that would be wonderful before my husband burns it to the ground on me.HELP !!

just checked the gas in the tank. it has an oily film to it ???

We just discovered it has dual tanks in it. Is there a way to drop the tanks without dropping the whole rear end out ?? This is the first time we've ever dealt with a subaru.

On a Vehicle this Age..there is a good chance the Catalytic converter is clogged..there only one way to eliminate this..cut it out..if the car starts..then im your Guy..if not..weld it back..and make sure the Gas is pure(no water) then proceed to check all ingnition components..its a little more work..but thats the cheapest route...I think..it worked for me..Good luck..

2007 Subaru Outback 2.5 non turbo. Does the VVT (variable valve timing solenoid have anything to do with the fuel system?

It is two separate systems. V.V.T. (Variable Valve Timing), runs on the oil system of the vehicle so has nothingdirectly to do with fuel. The vvt solenoid is basically an electrically operated switch that alters the engines mechanical timing depending on how hard it's being work. If the solenoid is stuck either open or closed the valve timing doesn't adjust so it won't run smoothly and it can affect your fuel consumption because of that.
What exactly is your fuel issue?

I have a 2010 subaru outback that stalls constantly when coming to a stop. Any clue why this may be happening or what can be done to fix it?

It sounds like it has lost it's base idle setting. These are fly-by-wire which it is computer controlled. Has the battery been disconnected lately? Any codes stored? Could also be dirty throttle valve.

Starts fine then stalls after a couple seconds.

its could be the fuel pump, if its going bad then it could be causing stall and a gas hose could be bad to and is only allowing a little gas to motor causing it to stall also

Stalling, dying, rough idle. After engine warms up, engine will start, but will not idle, dies. check engine light on.

u should definitely get ur engines computer system scanned to avoid misdiagnosing ur isssue. once u retrieve ur eng codes u can then begin to decide which one of ur 25 sensors are acting up, or where to start lookin an testing for ur fault..... good luck

1996 subaru outback wagon alternator wiring diagram. What is the yellow wire for?

are u sure about Yellow ??? i'm pretty sure Yellow is on '90 - '94 models.

Anyways, for those models it goes

1. Alter to Diode
2. Diode to Ignition Coil
3. Ignition Coil to Fuse # 16 in Fuse & Relay Box ( which is a 15A )

Hope that helps.

2003 Subaru Outback check engine light stays on

You may have to take it to a shop and have them connect their OBD tool to the computer and clear the deep memory. If you have a code left in the deep memory it can reapear like that. Good luck. Please rate me so I know how I'm doing. Thanks.
