How do i stop car from smoking

I'm assuming you mean smoke from the exhaust pipe. That depends.....white smoke or black smoke? Black smoke = oil burning. That would be due to engine wear and mean internal work needed. White smoke = coolant. Impalas had problems with the lower intake gasket leaking internally or externally as a result of the DexCool coolant breaking down the gasket. Replacement of the intake gaskets is the fix for that problem.

I have a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu with a 3.1L V6. It will start but if you take your foot off the gas, it instantly dies. It also smokes really bad when you start it up.

A compression problem check the psi on each cyclinder
Most likely a ring problem if blue smoke (Replace rings)
White smoke gasket problems
Black smoke carbon build up
A rebuild job is in order( heads)

Black smoke coming out of tailpipe when started

if its dark black smoke and the tip of the exhaust is pretty black the car is running rich, too much fuel is being used, needs a tune, if the smoke was white or grey its too lean, not enough fuel, if the smoke is blue its burning oil, id say the car just needs a tune or service.

1993 lumina euro is blowing black out of tailpipe smells gas

Black smoke is unburned gas. If the car is running fine besides the black smoke, it's most likely the Coolant Temperature Sensor. The part is roughly $20 and an easy fix.

PS- I'm guessing your check engine light is on...
