Dome light quit turning on

My dome light would only work sometimes but now it won't turn on at all. I checked the light bulb and it's fine and the fuse looks good too. Could it be the wiring and how could I check that myself?

The dome light on my 2005 Hyundai Accent wouldn't come on but all my fuses were good. I tracked it down to a loose screw in the dome light assembly and wrote all the steps I used to troubleshoot and fix it here: 1999 2005 Hyundai Accent Dome Light Will Not Turn On Share Your Repair

The switch on your dome light is more common problem.
remove the switch and inspect for burn marks and corrosion
clean and install
the switch will have 12V Battery power at all time.and ground from the door switch.
second ground will be on the switch and clowse the circuit only with switch to ON position

SOURCE: 2001 Hyundai Tiburon The dome lights stopped working.

the "clear" plastic inserts pop out... If you look closely youl see small slits around the border... just pop a flat head in there and GENTLY ease it out. The bulbs are cheap, though if you want colored you have to stay away from the cheap ones, being in that all they do on the cheap ones is paint the bulb in something that soon burns off.

There's only one relay, but two fuses, both located in the underhood fuse/relay box.

53ee18a.jpg Sounds like you have a wiring problem since sometime the left works and the right doesn't, then the right works then the left doesn't. Might be the multi-function switch on the steering column in combination with the connector M10-1, EM01, SE14 & 16.

Do not turn on dome lights

Could be the door faulty switch. When the door opens it completes the electrical circuit. Easy to change. Any parts house should have it. And of course check the bulb.

Nissan Altima Dome light will not turn on

sorry i have to say this, but have you checked the bulb? the cover pulls off pretty easily.next, check the fuse. the dome light fuse will run with another electrical component. be sure to check them all!and if you can manually turn on the light. check the door switch located in the door jamb close to the latch.

Dome light will not turn on

First check the bulb. If it looks good (or test good if you have an Ohm meter) then check the fuse for "interior lights."
If those look good, then you need to make sure you are getting power to the dome light connectors (using a voltmeter). If you have no power to the dome light, but everything else test out fine it is either your door switches, or interior light switch.

My head lights won't work. My running lights and dome light work and so does my turning singals.

Probably need to replace your headlight switch, it could be another problem but that is where I would start. The headlight switch is 2 or 3 switches in one, it turns on your parking lights, it turns on your interior lights and dims them too. Either that or it's your bulbs but they say you will never burn both headlights out at the same time. If you have a test light or a volt meter you could check the voltage at the headlight, that would eliminate the switch.

My dome light stopped working. I think the bulb may be burned out. How do I replace it?

the dome light cover just pops off by prying with a screwdriver..this will expose the bulb and you can probably figure it out from there... sometimes the bulbs unscrew out and sometimes they pop out also

Dome light won't work exept by the override switch-sometimes

I seem to be having the exact opposite problem. I have a 99 chevy blazer and the dome light will not turn off unless I push the override button in. The radio does turn off as soon as I turn off the ignition key. If I leave the dome override button out, the dome light will constantly stay on even while I am driving. It used to work fine. Every now and them it starts working properly, but it hasn't worked right for a long time now. I tested all the switches and they all seem ok. They rear hatch is also closed. Does anyone know what the problem can be and how to fix it?
