How to change speed sensor

Could be ground connections. Corrosion takes it's share. Polish connections to bright metal.

Yes it probably is related, you need to replace one of the abs/speed sensors.

4 wheel drive?, size motor? have you probed all the fuses under hood and dash? the spedo may be bad or a wire has been broke between the speed sensor and the spedo

Transmission speed sensor is most likely bad. Professional mechanic can determine with Ford OBD device.

speed sensor could be bad or spedo .Just a guess.Speed sensor runs about $20-25.

the sensor magnet wheel in the output shaft of the tranny can be sliiping on the shaft but!! due to it being a 2001 model you more than likely ahve internal clutch pack issues and bad worn or burnt clutch disk that tranny will not perform with severe internal damage

you will have to change out the speed sensor on the rearend it also controls the speedometer and odometer

well i would try replaceing that sensor first it is a speed sensor and it has a lot to do with the shifting of that tranny if it dose not work yea with what you have exsplained it is probly time for a tranny but this fix is worth a try thanks kdc744

I already replaced the speed sensor but still it wont work! how to determine the cause of the problem
