I have a 2006 Dodge Stratus. The driver and passenger side door no longer lock/unlock with the key fob. However the rear doors will lock and unlock. The passenger side will lock but not unlock with the fob. We tried to change the lock actuator and that didn't work so i'm guessing it's electrical with the relay. However we don't know where the location of the relay is for the drivers side door lock? We tested the current to the wires there and got nothing so that has to be the issue. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

SOURCE: key lock on drivers door won't unlock the door

you need to take the door panel off, there is a rod in there that connects to the lock cylinder it frequently pops off, there is a little plastic clip that should hold it on to the cylinder it may be broken!!

Does the door unlock with the master switch on the driver's door?
If not - the switch is likely the problem...
Check it out and let me know.

Thanks!

The entire system is computer controlled. There is a driver's door module, a sliding door module, a remote keyless entry module, and a body control module all involved in the symptoms you have described. The only advise I have for you is to have all your modules scanned for fault codes. There is most likely a communications fault between the modules. They all have to talk to each other for everything to work.

I did do a Technical Service Bulletin search and found nothing that applies to your problem. The diagnosis will have to begin with a complete scan of all your computer modules. It may even turn out to be something as simple as a bad ground circuit. Fault codes may lead you to the cause. When you have it scanned, make sure you have ALL modules scanned. If it is a communications problem, the module that is having problems communicating will not tell on itself. You must get this information from the other modules that it communicates with.

2006 Dodge Stratus, driver side door lock actuator not getting power. Replaced actuator didn't work. Need location of the relay wiring to try that next?

Nick:
I would not go and fix the relays: those are inside the BCM or "Body Control Module" located under the dashboard to the extreme left or driver's side. Believe me, it is a nightmare to remove from the car and very expensive to repair at specialist shops.
In my 2002 Stratus Sedan R/T Turbo (Mexico), the door locks started to ignore the door switches or the remote at about two years from new, but as it was an intermittent failure, I didn't go to the dealer to fix it under warranty. But after two more years and just out of warranty, the failure was more frequent. After six years of use, all the doors were ignoring the commands from either the door mounted switches or the remote.

The thing is, "modern" cars are designed with too much reliance on software and computerized modules to perform simple tasks previoulsly done with simple wiring and relays. This is the case with the door lock actuated by a BCM. In the older Spirit, LeBaron, Reliant etc. generation designs, you had three wires to the small motor actuating the door lock mechanism. But some "too-intelligent" so called automotive designers decided a "better idea": to multiplex the lock/unlock commands on only two wires, "saving" a few feet of copper wires, but requiring the use of a complex Module, that ends up being much more costlier, heavier and unreliable! (but in that way the too-intelligent software (ab)using designers were happy).

I solved my problem by disconnecting the door locks wiring to the BCM and paid a much lower price to a technician that installs cheap car alarms that have their own remote control. In that way i saved about $350 USD... you decide what to do! Best Luck, Amclaussen.

Bmw drivers door only wont lock/unlock with key fob

Could be your driver door lock mechanism that is going bad , since the other door are working, it cannot be the fob. I would try to change the driver side door latch mechanism.
