SOURCE: i have a 2003 range rover the air suspension inactive came on

it could be from many reasons...sometimes even the ABS system will cause this fault or even the Steering position Sensor. if it comes and goes then inspect your height sensors as the early version of the height sensors are getting weak and like melting so it gives wrong reading which cause the fault...offer more info. and you'll get your solution

  • These instructions are for The range Rover, but I can't see them changing the steup

  • Park your Range Rover in a safe place, open the hood and disconnect the black, negative battery cable.

Locate the drive-belt tensioner pulley (this pulley does not drive any accessory on the engine but provides tension to the belt). If the pulley has a recessed squared in the middle, use a 1/2-inch drive-breaker bar to pivot the pulley toward the center of the engine, then slide the drive belt from under the pulley. Carefully release the tensioner pulley. On other models, the tensioner pulley comes with adjusting and pivot bolts. Use a wrench or ratchet and socket to loosen the bolts and release the belt tension. Other tensioner pulleys come equipped with a third bolt to prevent the adjusting bolt from sliding and releasing the belt tension. Loosen this bolt if necessary. On other vehicle models without a tensioner pulley, it is necessary to loosen the alternator mounting and adjusting bolts to release the belt tension using a wrench or ratchet and socket.

  • 3

Slide the drive belt off the alternator pulley, but leave the belt properly mounted on the rest of the accessory pulleys on the engine.

  • 4

Remove the two alternator mounting bolts using a wrench or ratchet and socket. Move the alternator away from the engine just enough to unplug the alternator electrical connector and wire, then lift the alternator off the engine.

  • 5

Set the new alternator in place. Plug the alternator electrical connector and install the electrical wire. Install the two mounting bolts and torque them to 18 foot-lbs., using a torque wrench (see Tips for more information).

  • 6

Slide the drive belt over the alternator pulley. Depending on the belt-tension system on your vehicle, either: (1) slide the belt over the idler pulley after pivoting the pulley with the breaker bar, then carefully release the tensioner; or (2) adjust the pulley locking and adjusting bolts; or (3) push the alternator away from the engine using a pry bar to provide the necessary tension to the drive belt and tighten the alternator-mounting bolts. Double-check to make sure the belt is properly seated over the pulleys ribs.

2003 Land Rover Range Rover;SES light came on, had it scanned and came back w/code p1453. Can you tell me common symptoms of this code and what a fix may be?

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P1453 is a "Manufacturer Specific" code, which means that it is defined only by the manufacturer of the vehicle and does not exist in any standard lists of DTCs, such as the standard SAE J2012 listings.

DTC P1453 for a 2003 Land Rover Range Rover, is defined by the vehicle manufacturer as "DM-TL REFERENCE CURRENT TOO LARGE"

The possible causes listed by the manufacturer are"

    > DM-TL Module

Please note that DM-TL is an acronym for "Diagnostic Module - Tank Leak". This is the module that performs the diagnostic testing on your evaporative emissions system.

So, basicly what is happening here, is that the system that was designed to test the system and warn you of an impending failure, is what is actually causing the system to fail.

2003 Range Rover HSE shut off while going down the road. The battery light came on about 30 miles before.

Your alternator has went out. The engine shut off because it drained the battery and had no power left to run it.

Range rover air suspension stoped working

Range rovers are notorious for air susp issues, over the years I have had several issues. Unfortunately a lot of the time even the dealers fix these by accident. Range Rovers.net is a good site for a lot of issues, that can be checked without testbook. To start check the easy stuff. If the car is a 2003-on the compressor is under spare tire, height sensors can fail and can be checked with a voltmeter, check all air lines and valves. Good luck

Range rover 4.2 vogue year model 1993.

The normal reason why a hot engine doesn't start is the choke. Your fancy new range rover will have a computer controlled choke that will be activiated by a temperature sensor. maybe in his enthusiasm to replace expensive parts your dealer missed replaciijng this cheap little component. i don't see it in the list of replacements in your posting. Another possibility is that the sensor is OK but just disconnected.

In my ancient range rover I have a manual choke but essentially the same engine. I know that if the motor is hot I can't start it with the choke on.
