Reset battery light

Just got my car serviced. Battery light came on but drove fine. When I was parking in the driveway the control panel went crazy and the car died. Bought a brand new expensive battery. Drove it to work. All is well. Started SUV to go home. Battery light comes on.Stop at Auto Zone and get battery and alternator checked. Both are fine. Start to back into driveway and control panel goes crazy and after I turn car off it is dead. Waited about 30 minutes and car starts no problem. Husband checked alternator belt and it is tight. What can this be?

SOURCE: dead battery

It could be a defective ignition switch as well (it has a disabling circuit) thinking the vehicle is stolen. The dealer has the equipment to see if is throwing a code for that.

Has been running perfectly fine, drove it home this afternoon, parked on the driveway. went to drive it tonight and it won't start, it won't even turn over.

Year make and model might help a bit. Things to check for are starter, alarm, spark, fuel. Does it make any noise while cranking, does it crank. The more info you supply the better the answer

sounds like a regulator malfunction to me..need to connect a battery/alternator tester to the system and see if the regulator is bad.. this will cause full charge of the alternator to enter the system.. this uses the battery as a regulator and will cause overheating of wires and relays..if the alternator can be removed and tested separately(most can), do this and see if this is the case..replace if bad..good luck..

Drove through a puddle, power steering out and temp gauge on high, battery light on

I've seen it happen many times on the older Caravans, if you hit a really deep puddle, the splash can knock the accessory drive belt off of its pulleys. You can just gently pry the belt back on, consult a service manual for detailed installation directions.

Guages when crazy. Now won't even try to start.

You likely have it repaired by now but it sounds like a classic case of oxidized battery or cable connection (sometimes mis-diagnosed as bad battery but cured with new (clean) battery)
