Hi Kristie Didier, I want to help you with your problem, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
What happens when you hit 2500? Does it shake? Is there a warning lamp on? Which engine does it have 4.6L or 5.4L?

Just put in a new long block 5.4L. It will not rev past 2500 rmp either in park or going down the road. Battery got hooked up and key turned on when engine was out if that makes a difference. No warning lamps no shaking engine just kind of sputters.

Pull the Upstream o2 sensors out and see if it clears. The old engine could have contaminated the catalytic converters and clogged them up

Start by checking your TPS switch (throttle position sensor) located on the throttle body . They turn while your foot pushes the accelerator pedal . TPS voltage goes from 0 to 5 volts and is easily checked with a volt meter .

2005 ford freestyle wont rev up past 2500 rpms

If you hit the Rev Limiter on a Ford, it will simply bounce the rev back down, to protect the Engine. So, no high Revs. But, you should be able to bring it slowly to a High RPM. That is normal. If there are no Check Engine Light on. You are most likely hitting the rev Limit and need to stop.

If your standing still in park it wont rev past 3000 rpm as its got a limiter on it And only revs past 3000 rpm in drive on the move.

In park, this could be normal. ECU does this. around 2800 to 3500 RPMs. If driving, have the codes read. No codes , could be a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump(have the pressure checked), or clogged catalytic converter/s. With no codes, something is restricted..

2008 mercury mountaineer. heat will blow and then it will blow cold. Coolant is full and no leaks. It's overheated twice in the past week. Now high rpms at low speed, when heat is turned on or off.

My 2011 ford mustang v6 motor will be running fine goin down the road then without warning it wont wont accerate the rpms drop to 800 rpms an wont acclerate i can turn the motor off wait few min an it will...

Probably a problem with the electronic throttle control , causing the PCM - engine computer to put the vehicle into a reduced power mode . Having it hooked up to a diagnostic scan tool to check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code an view sensor input data to the PCM should be the first step in the diagnostic procedure .
