On some fords there is a switch that shuts the fuel pump off if the vehicle is in a roll over accident i think its called a nitration switch it shuts the power off to the pump relay
Testimonial: "I thank you for your help, but this truck has never been in a roll over accident or in any kind of major accident, what electrical could cause the high pressure pump Not to work but would let the low pressure one? thank you for your advice and help.(@_@)"
On the Nitration switch, would you happen to know where it is located? It's worth a try , anything is at this point hun and I thank you for your help.!
some times theyare under the dash on the passenger side they will go bad it does not have to been in a accident or arole over you can check the fuel relay also it should be in the engine compartment on the passenger side firewall a repair manual will help you locate them

SOURCE: I have a 1988 camper it's on a Ford F350 chasse
The catalytic converter may be fried. Very poor design of the restricted exaust ports.
And the fuel pumps are junk straight from the box. Around 94 Ford had to change the design of the fuel pumps.
I am not a mechanic but had the same issues.
I removed the catalytic converter and get the inspection done by a freind.
Your alternative is to change the entire exaust system to say a "Banks". Which is about $3000 for the paRTS.
SOURCE: Bronco II 1987 v6 2.9-well manufacture date is 10\87 but that means parts are 88' right?
Look at your registration, note "model year" If you ar still unsure, call a Ford dealer and ask them to look up your vin #. They will know for sure.
