SOURCE: heater does not blow hot air on full heat setting

the problem is caused by the motor that operates the air temp blend door motor in the heating ducts, it blends air between AC and heater core tro give desired outlet temp.

SOURCE: heater only blows Very luke

Read all of these instructions before starting this job.
First test your heater core for flow by disconnecting both heater core hoses from motor and forcing air from an air compressor into one of them watching for flow from the other. If you have no flow then you may need to backflush your heater core - it is possible you have blockage in it. Your local auto parts store has a backflush kit you can buy that will have a backflush valve ( to be added to your supply heater core hose ) and an additive to put in your coolant system. The kit will not include new coolant so you will need to get that too. Install valve and connect a garden hose.Run motor specified time in the kit. Remove lower hose from your radiator and turn on the water from the hose full blast. Watch the coolant coming out from your radiator to see if any chunky stuff comes out - also watch for the color of the flow. Run water until it comes out clear, then shut off water and disconnect garden hose. Allow system to drain, reconnect radiator hose and cap flush valve. Refill coolant system, turn heat on high and run motor until it is warm. Top off coolant in radiator ( be careful - the pressure may cause coolant to spray out when you remove cap - put a rag over the cap before you remove slowly). If you do not have warm air at this point you may have a bubble in the heater core and may need to block rear wheels then raise the front of the vehicle until the radiator cap is higher than the heater core. Restart vehicle and turn heater on high . Check coolant level in radiator and top off, then cap radiator and shut off motor. Lower vehicle and start again with heater on high. If you still have no heat then your heater core may be plugged. To check, remove both heater hoses from motor and force air from an air compressor into one of the hoses, watching for flow from the other hose - if no flow then core is plugged and needs to be replaced, but if you have flow then you still have an air bubble in the system and need to purge using the above steps until you have heat.
Hope this helps and please rate my solution - good luck!!

I changed thermostat and water pump had good heat for three miles and then went cold can mess with it and get it to come back and then goes cold in 3 miles

Check the heater hoses to see if they are still hot when the air goes cold. If the hose are hot it is not a cooling system problem but a temperature blend door problem. If the hoses have a different feel to them, one hot and one cold or warm, it is a circulation problem and the coolant is not moving through the heater core fast enough to keep the air hot out of the vents. This usually ends up being a clogged heater core.

Cabin Heat is Intermittent / Fluctuates / Cycles

You may have air trapped in the lines to or from the heater core.
If you (still) have a real radiator cap on the radiator, remove it with a cold engine, start and run the engine allowing it to warm up while watching the water/coolant level. Make sure the heater control is set to its highest heat setting while doing this. If it is trapped air, you may see it 'belch' after the engine is warm and the engine thermostat is open. Refill as needed if this is the case.
It's more difficult without direct radiator access and may require several cycles of hot/cold to allow refilling through the overflow.

2004 Odyssey, heat and A/C do not work unless van in motion

Since warm air eventually comes out when the vehicle is in motion, you may have an air mix door that is stuck in fresh or is somehow blocking warm air from the heater core.

To see if the air mix control motor is bad, you need to retrieve your Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) from the heater control panel. To run the diagnostic function, do the following:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Turn the fan switch OFF.
3. Press the recirc control button to select Recirc (recirc light on.)
4. Press and hold the recirc button to select Fresh (recirc light off) and continue to hold the button down until the recirc light comes on for two seconds and then goes off.
5. If the system is okay, the recirc light stays off.
6. If there is a problem, the recirc light blinks the DTC to indicate the trouble. One blink=a problem in the air mix control motor circuit. Two blinks=problem in the mode control motor circuit
Three blinks=problem in evaporator temp sensor circuit.
7. Turn the ignition switch off to cancel the self diagnosis function. Run the diagnostic again after repairs are complete.

Note: the air mix control motor has a rod which connects to a plastic link. The link controls the mix doors and also connects to the heater control water valve via a cable. The air mix motor may check okay, but if the link is broken then you will still have problems. the motor is on the bottom of the heater unit in the front passenger's foot well.

I have a 2000 cry/voyager, my heater is blowing out cold air

Hi Joseph,
This looks like a classic Air lock scenario.
Try parking on level ground, when cold remove coolant filler cap, start engine and leave to idle.
Have plenty of warm water available, when engine reaches operating temp it may start making funny noises and then boil over (Keep clear of Coolant filler) when subsided top up with warm water and wait as it may do it again.
Keep your heater on hot and blower on full when you are happy no bubbles or gurgling and heat coming from blower top up replace cap and YahOO! your'e warm again.
Good Luck!
