How to change thermostat on ram 2 y 00

Follow the upper hose to the top of the engine behind the alternator/a/c compressor. The t stat is under the outlet pipe the hose is attached to. Sometimes it is easier to remove the alternator, ac compressor and the bracket so you can get at the bolts and clean up the surfaces.

Engine does not heat up. I think thermostat is bad but can't find the location. It is not located a the engine block where the top radiator hose is connected to the engine block. It is a 1996 Toyota Rav4...

Its on the front of the engine block under the alternator. Follow the lower radiator hose til it meets with the block, you have to take that hose off of the block and the thermostat is inside mounted to the block. When you replace you'll want to replace the gasket too.

How to replace a thermostat on a 2003 chevy trailblazer with a 4.2 engine. One source says it is off the top radiator hose, and another says it comes from the bottom hose right behind the alternator. If it...

The thermostat is under the alternator.

If you have a memory saver to keep radio & PCM settings, install it now.

Remove negative battery cable from battery. Remove positive cable from alternator and disconnect harness plug from alternator.

Remove accessory belt noting how it is installed for later reinstallation.

Remove engine lifting hook in front of alternator.

Remove (3) bolts holding alternator on.

Drain coolant from radiator (may want to start this as first step as it takes a while). Loosen pressure cap to aid in system draindown.

Remove radiator hose from thermostat housing.

Remove two bolts from housing and remove from engine.

Reinstall is reverse keeping in mind the following:

Cleanliness counts where thermostat housing seals to engine.
Thermostat spring should point into engine.
If the thermostat has a bleed port, it should go to the 12 o'clock position (up).

How hard is it to change alternator and thermostat on a 2007 Saturn Aura

Those are both hardy parts that should last close to 100,000 miles, but if you need to replace them it's not real difficult, especially since there's plenty of room under the hood. The alternator is a matter of 3 or 4 bolts. Remove the plug-in wire harness from the alternator, loosen the adjuster bolt to take tension off the belt, then remove the mounting bolts and pull the alternator. Reverse the steps for the install. For the thermostat, follow the upper radiator hose to the point where it enters the engine. The hose is connected to a metal housing that's bolted to the engine. Unbolt the housing from the engine to expose the thermostat. Lift the thermostat out, remove all traces of gasket from the housing and engine, then install the new thermostat and gasket.

Location of thermostat on 2002 dodge stratus 2.7 eng.

The thermostat on this car is located on the passenger side lower Engine block. Follow the lower radiator hose and it will lead you right to it. The Wheel and splash guarding need to be removed as well as the Alternator to gain access to the housing bolts. It about a 3 hour job to replace thermostat.

Broken Belt under the 1998 Plymouth Breeze 2.4L DOHC 4 Cyl. engine.

Sounds like you have a broken belt that drives the alternator, water pump and maybe the power steering depending on engine type and size. Have the belt replaced before driving car as if you overheat the engine you could end up with major engine damage. The belt on the 2.4 litre engine is manually adjusted with a bolt on the alternator housing. To install this belt yourself maybe difficult if you do not know the routing of the belt around the number of pulleys involved. get help.

I have a water leak coming from my engine block. How to repair 2001 Buick 3.8 It is come out of a 5/8 pipe or around it

If it's a hose, best bet is to just replace it, and use new clamps.

If it's leaking where it's connected to the nipple, for a quick fix, you can remove the hose, cut the hose off past the leak, and reattach it.

This requires a little bit of slack in the hose, but if the leak is right at the connection, there should be enough slack in the hose to do this.

How to remove alternator

Park vehicle on level ground.
2. Remove battery from vehicle.
3. Remove air cleaner outlet hose, engine under cover ( right side ) and exhaust pipe # 2 .
4. Disconnect " B " terminal wire and coupler from the Alternator ( Generator ) .
5. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) belt.

6. Remove power steering pump. Do not disconnect hoses.
6. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) cover.
7. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) bracket mounting bolts.
8. Remove Alternator ( Generator ).

Power Steering pump has three bolts- 2 behind the pulley at 12 and 6 o'clock and one bolt on the back.

Once you get the power steering pump out of the way you can remove the last bolt on the alternator

Ok...I did not remove axle or disconnect hoses on power steering...I did unbolt power steering pump and moved off to side.

after that I disconnected sensor on throttle body and very carefully lifted alternator through the top where your air intake assembly would have been at, right next to A.C. refrigerant lines. It takes a minute , you HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE SENSOR!!

However it is a lot faster that taking off drive shaft and exhaust pipe!

If you go to AutoZone .com they have exploded diagrams of the parts you have to take off and they will show you bolt locations, the power steering pump bolt at 6 o'clock drove me crazy.

P.S. Get a ratcheting 12 mil wrench, it's a life and knuckle saver!!
