Dodge Ram AC not blowing cold

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. The AC is blowing hot air. I have put refrigerant in the system, and the pressure is fine. The compressor is not kicking on, but it is still getting power. I have been told it could be a high or low pressure switch or even a bad compressor.

By pass both pressure switches one at a time with small wire or a paper clip. If comperssor kicks on replace the swich that you bypassed.
if not it could be the fan clutch ot the compressor. Compressor runs about $400.00

My 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T has an issue with the AC. The heat works fine. When the AC is on it will blow cold air for a while but if I pull up to a redlight and idle for a few minutes, then it will start to...

Make sure your coolig fan(s) are running while the ac is on. I''m not sure how you now that you have sufficient refrigerant in the system, but I would also have that checked. Over filled systems can act that way too! Last but not least, high and low pressure switches should be checked, amd if all else fails, check the expansion valve.

Air conditioner cold then hot

If the A/C blows cold at first, then gets hot, it may be because there is air and moisture in the system. What happens is that as the thermodynamic cycle of moving heat goes on, water in the system will freeze at the expansion valve, stopping refrigerant flow.

If you put a proper set of A/C gauges on it, the low pressure side would show zero or a negative pressure, while the high side would be >150... Usually low should be between 25 and 45, but because the system is frozen up, nothing moves, so the compressor is acting more or less as a vacuum pump.

Solution:
Have a professional evacuate the system, replace the receiver/dryer, add a bit of oil and then charge the system.

2001 dodge ram 1500 ac is blowing hot air instead of cold

Your A/C sounds like it needs to be vacuumed
out and then recharged to factory specs. That
should solve the problem.

Air conditioning not blowing cool air

To get the refrigerant in you have to have a technician purge the system first. Hope that helps.
