SOURCE: car cranks but will not cold cranks easily

your battery might not have enough cold cranking amps to get your motor running. consider upgrading to a stronger battery. but first take your current battery to a auto parts store and have a load test done on it.

SOURCE: Where can I find the fuel filter on my 2000

Want to change the fuel filter? I will provide you the steps on how to replace the fuel filter. This is how to do it.
1. Remove the lower rear seatcushion by pushing the two small black retaining tabs--located on the bottomfront of the seat--while pulling the seat cushion up and then forward. Pry upthe inspection plate, located below the seat cushion, using a screwdriver. (Itmay be necessary to cut the black sealer used to attach the cover with a sharpknife before prying the cover out.) Be careful not to break the wiring underthe cover. 2. Disconnect the fuel pump wiringfrom the fuel pump by squeezing the locking tab on the plug while pulling up onthe connector. Start the engine and let it run until it stalls. 3. Disconnect the negative batterycable from the battery, located in the driver side front of the enginecompartment, using a 10-mm wrench. Position the cable away from the battery toprevent accidental contact while the fuel filter is being removed and replaced. 4. Depress the quick disconnectbutton located on the end of the fuel lines and twist while pulling to removethem from the old filter. Unclip the filter from the bracket it is snapped intoand remove the fuel line on the bottom of the filter. 5. Push the fuel lines onto thenew filter until they snap into place. Reconnect the negative battery cable.Prime the fuel filter by turning the ignition key to the run position and backto the off position three times. This will fill and pressurize the fuel system.Start the engine and check for leaks. Reinstall the fuel pump cover and rearseat.

Bad cam shaft senser

You could have a faulty engine coolant sensor or intake air temperature sensor. Fuel injectors clogged or dirty flooding engine.
Clean fuel injectors, replace fuel filter and air filter, and see if the problem persists.
If it does ECT sensor is bad. If CMP sensor was bad, the vehicle won\'t start whether cold or hot. CKP senso and CMP sensor work together if either one fails, the vehicle won\'t start. Have the vehicle code scanned.

Camshaft sensor very likely. Heat is causing it to fail. Could also be crank sensor. Cheap part to replace, very easy if camshaft (top of engine) check that first.

Hard to start hot or cold , cranks fast for about 10 sec. finelly starts like its not getting fuel. already changed fuel filter

What is slowing down the cranking is the ECM adjusting your timing, advancing it to the point where it makes your starter work harder. I'd bet there is a sensor going bad in the engine that will eventually be found by reading the codes on the computer.

It will only fire with starting fluid. Either cold or hot. Runs fine after, but will not re start on own. We replaced cam sensor, crank sensor, temp sensor, pressure regulator, and distributor cap.

Not to sound like a ******* but did you change the fuel filter? Also when you turn the key to the on "not crank" possion you should hear the pump primming the fuel system. If you do not hear the pump go under and feel the pump. You can also remove the cap and listen.

Sounds like a sensor is breaking down under heat of engine.
Try the Crank sensor (under the alternator at front of engine with a 2 pin multiplug attached. Or the Cam sensor (more likely) placed behind the oil filler neck and looks the same as the crank sensor. Breakers should sell you these for approx £20 each.
If no joy let me know.

Ford tick over problem

Hi there!

A few more things to check for you.-

A vacuum leak in any of the vacuum hoses will cause the ECU to make random guesses at what's going on.

Have you replaced plugs recently - or at all? This is probably the main cause - and certainly worth a try.

Fuel filter should be replaced at recommended intervals - about 3 years.

Clean your leads and HT gear really well with a degreasant. Any losses will be more noticable at tickover than high revs.

Lastly.........wear on cam lobes or timing belt.

Hope it's cheap for you!
Please spare a moment to rate as fixya! if any of this information proves useful. Thanks (I don't get paid for this)
