Separate the metal disk from the rest of the mirror (as the mirror is too heavy for the glue) grab the metal disk with a square nosed pliers and twist counterclockiwse....the metal disk is attached by springs (very strong springs) once the metal disk is cleaned it can be re-attached to the windshield with normal glue...make sure the metal disk is oriented correctly as the mirror is re-attached by a twisting motion.

2007 Audi A4. How do I replace the rear view mirror mounting plate

What is the trick to reattach a 2008 s80 rear view mirror. It has a metal spring that snaps over what looks like a nut on the windshield.

There are 3 common ways to fix a windscreen mirror. Glue, 'grub' screw or clip. Check to see if yours has a tiny screw on the mirror that needs winding out. If no screw it is possibly a spring clip mount.
BE CAREFUL, If you are too rough you will shatter the windscreen and they are NOT cheap.
Hold the mirror arm flat against the glass above the windscreen mount. It should slide over the glass mount. The clip is a strong spring so it will be a tight fit. Try using a strap and pull down flat against the windscreen. it might resist then suddenly snap into place so Be Careful.

If the rear view mirror mount has seperated from the windshield you can buy the glue kit at most auto parts stores. Any windshield installation company will also install it for a small fee.

Does anyone know how to reattach the inside rear view mirror to the mount on an '04 Honda CRV? My son pulled the mirror off the mounting, which is still attached to the windshield. It looks like it...

another way it might attach is with a small metal or plastic wedge and glue maybe fashion the wedge from milk jug cap and a dab of 5 min epoxy firmly hold the mirror in place until it stays

Rearview mirror fell off windshield! Not broken...

the mirror should simply slide over the metal mount (button) that is glued to the window.

loosen the set screw on the mirror mount...

hold the rear view mirror mount on the glass just above the metal mount (wide end of plastic opening facing down)

slide it into place...
secure it by tightening down set screw you loosened earlier.
