2004 Kia Sedona keeps stalling

I have a 2004 Kia Sedona with about 90,ooo miles on it. All of a sudden it keeps stalling every now and then when I slow down or get ready to turn. I changed the fuel pump because that was what all the repair shops thought it was. Well it didn't help. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Help please!!!!

Your problem sounds like you have a bad crankshaft position sensor. You will not get a trouble code (check engine light). This will cause the vehicle to suddenly stall. You cannot change the idle on this vehicle, or any FI modern vehicle contrary to a previous post. It is controlled by the engine management computer by way of an idle air control circuit on the throttle body.

I did all you have done, I changed the Fuel pump, the sensors, the Crank shaft PS, everything , and nothing worked. I found the problem was the Fuel pressure regulator. I changed it and now my van works wonderful!. the FPR is not monitored by the computer. It is just a valve with an internal Spring, that regulates the fuel pressure. Just change that and good luck! I know your problem will be solved!

I would think that the idle is too low and needs adjustment. Check if the RPM drops when the AC is on or when you try to turn. You may stall because of the added load the engine gets from the power steering or the aircon or when both are running, can be while turning while the AC is on.

What do you do if thier is a problem with anti lock device I was told this could be the problem that my 2004 kia sedona will not keep running keeps stalling

Engine light is normally emisions related. I would check intake tube for splits & clamp tightness, check for vacume leaks, check oxygen sensors & airflow or map sensor. these all change the air / fuel ratio possibly to the point of stalling

'03 Kia Sedona EX - ONLY Error Code - Clogged Catalytic Converter - Causing hesitation and 3 mpg reduction in gas mileage. Van in very good condition, 78,000 miles, 1 yr of 500 Miles/wk of Commuting...

Most "common" cause is and engine misfire that causes unburned fuel to enter the converter and overheat/melt the catalyst. The converter is covered by 8yr/80,000 mile warranty for defects, and may be covered thru Kia. On a positive note we have a 2005 sedona shuttle van a work with 250,000 miles on it and qoing strong.

2004 SEDONA 63000 MILES ...WHEN DRIVING A RIPPLE

Replace the throttle position sensor then. Am pretty certain that's the problem.

You might have it checked for codes too. Sometimes codes are stored that do not cause a CEL, but give clues as to what is failing.

P.S. I found the data on the internet and, it is indeed 60,000 miles.

Air conditioning electrical diagram for 2004 kia sedona

I also have a 2004 Kia sedona with approx. 80,000 miles on it. The air conditing system stopped blowing cool air into the car. The fan would work, but would not blow cool air. After doing a lot of research. After trying to find a car repair manual or diagrams for the Kia Sedona with no luck. We ended up taking it to our machanic. He then replaced the compressor and it is working fine now. I now know that this is common for the compressor to go out on this van.
