SOURCE: speedo 95 yj conversion 350 with 350 turbo trans

The vehicle speed sensor is located in the transfer case housing. To get your speedometer working you will have to connect the wires back to the speed sensor.

My jeep 1989 YJ .will only move in 4lo, 2wheel or 4 hi makes grinding noise like it pops out of transfer case GEARs. A/T auto GM has 6inch lift and other extreme mod's

So it really is only a jeep XJ body ,not a real jeep
sure loved by all sure.

jeep has 2003 avalanche LS5.3 ENGINE AND 4L60E TRANS WITH A 6" Lift (ouch)
on 37" tires

with 1979 Ford 3/4 ton rear ends.

with NP231 transfer, np207 gone now with new NP231 transfer case from the '91 YJ ?, NO, from a CHEVY
I bet now it is NP231C box, the C means Chevy box.
with

2H, 4H, N, and 4L,, this is part time 4wd, not full and is not for the 4wheeling on pavement. only offroad or on ICE.
ICE means, just that or snow or snow over ice. (sorry captain Obvious, just left the building, now)
end ICE answers
begin, 6" lift extreme problems
the real problem is the LIFT that high.
3 "easy
4 hard
6 "extreme lifts.

IT fails in 2wd mode too, that is because U-Joints have limits. (all do) and the lift span chart below.(angle) post.
nothing else needs to known, but U-JOINT ANGLES are all WRONG.

SOLVED,. the 6" lift done wrong. YJ is a very short Wrangler and very short rear prop shaft.
that means Prop(rear) drive shaft angles are dead wrong. (solved the reason on 1 fact)

DOne with no SYE kit. "slip Yoke Eliminator"'

done i bet with no shims for rear axle LEAF spring perches , to get angle right(they sell shim kits)

the answer
You need a double cardan or CV (same piece different name) at the TC case, this will require a new yolk. You will also need to shim the pinion angle to get the driveshaft and pinion within 2 degrees of each other.57df616c-aa76-4942-9ce0-a4d55339a46d.jpg

91 jeep wrangler YJ shifting problems

do you mean it wont go into gear ? if so what gears ? it could be the clutch going out , if the pedal is soft or easy to push down than it probably needs a clutch. next time it wont go into gear try pumping the clutch or putting it from 2nd to 1st or what ever gear it has problems with

My 89 Jeep YJ manual will not go in to reverse while running

Problem is likely either a worn shift fork or bad synchro (both inside the transmission) It's unlikely that you have a clutch problem otherwise the problem would be with first and reverse and shifting other gears would also be difficult.

92 prelude si (auto)

With normal acceleration the 1st to second shift point should be around 2500-3000 rpm. Most of your shifts under moderate acceleration will take place at this same point or when there a light load on the transmission. Under hard acceleration the RPMs will climp higher due to increased power needs and the computer will shift when less power is needed or the RPMs climb to an unsafe speed say5000-6000rpms (depending on where yours redlines). Also going up a steep hill will raise the RPMs higher and goind down a hill will cause a faster shift at lower RPMs. These can always be altered by an individual owner by adjusting shift points, using performance parts and if you have problems (low tranny fluid/trans issues). Your trans RPMS are fine and will vary depening on how your foot accelerates. The shift pattern should be the same every time you drive slow/medium/fast/, look for changes in those patterns you will also catch a problem early.
