Several things can cause this. On the inside. The controller could be bad. The wires could be shorted. a blown fuse. Under the hood. Wires could be bad. high and low sensors could be bad. LOW on refrigerant. Engine control module(ECM) could be bad. All of these will cause NO power to the clutch.

SOURCE: freon level full but clutch wont engage

find the reciever dryer you will see a two wire device connected to it, pull it off and install a paper clip in it with enginge off then start and see if the ac cools, if it does replace the switch it just unscrews and is called the low pressure switch.

SOURCE: On my 2007 Dodge 2500

there is no relay in that box that is called the tipm or totally integrated power module. that module is controlled by a computer and should be checked with a scanner to see if you have a code for the a/c. i m having the same problem i have been told it could be low freon but can not get the clutch to engage to check the high and low pressure. Also read where it may be the diode in the clutch on the ac compressor if you have a multimeter probe the compressor a good compressor will read somewhere between 3.5 and 4.0 anything else and clutch needs to be replaced. other possibilities may be the high or low pressure switch on the line. on myh 2006 2500 diesel it is located near the plug for the compressor on bottom side of motor. hope this helps.

I have 2007 chrysler pacifica the ac clutch won't engage so I did it manually but it won't stay on

The clutch is engaged when you have power going to it AND there is enough freon pressure in the system. Check the freon level, if low add some and the clutch should engage when the pressure is high enough, like 50 to 75 psi. If you have pressure, check the fuse and electrical connections for a loose wire.

2007 PT a/c condenser won't kick on---plenty of Freon

Check the fuse and when on, does the AC clutch engage and turn the AC ? If so, the freon is low. If not, there is an electrical issue to engage the clutch.

FIRST SEE IF POWER IS GOING TO THE RELAY. IF 'YES' YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE RELAY.

97 chevy suburban AC clutch won't engage pressures

Looks like the low pressure switch gets power from a 10amp ac fuse. Power then goes to the ac relay which is powered on by the ac heat controller on the dash. Power then goes thru the high pressure switch to the compressor. The ac relay is grounded to the body. Do you have power on the lite and dark green wires going into the relay and is it grounded ?

AC not working on 2001 Mercury Villager

AC will not run unless the clutch is energized. You got it to engage by jumping power line. Check to see if there is a relay in the circuit that gets power to the clutch. 35PSI at 3000 rpm at 75 degrees ambient is about right. How about checking the AC on/off switch? Get a schematic and chech any component in the power trail to the clutch.

2007 Dodge 2500 5.9 diesel. When you turn on AC you can see clutch try and engauge and after 3-4 tries it stops. No AC. If drive around for a while AC starts to work after engine heats up?

Working same problem today on my 2006 Mega Cab Diesel. 2 possibilities. Either the compressor clutch coil is going bad ( totally integrated power module tries to engage it a couple of times, senses the coil resistance is wrong and shuts down) or the TIPM (Total Integrated Power Module) is bad. I'm leaning toward clutch on compressor but still have testing to do to isolate. Could be both, but I doubt it. New TIPM is about $900 it appears from what I read. New compressor is cheaper. May be able to replace just the clutch coil for even less but reading mixed results. Good luck.

Should the AC compressor clutch engage when the

yes. the ac removes moisture from the cabin of your car. if it is not engaging that is why your windows are fogging up. you need to have the ac pressure checked. you may just need a recharge.
