The music on the burned CD plays good it just takes forever before it will start playing and it also takes forever to play the next track and so on. Regular CD's play fine. sometimes it wont play the CD at all. Its weird because the 10 disk player at the back of the jeep plays burned cd's fine.
2001, jeep, "new technology on old IRON?"
burned, burned what? did you RIP a CDDA disc to CDR
or burn a bunch of MP3? , my guess you RIPPED it.?
you expect burned CD to work? CDR or CDRW?
if you read the product datasheet for the actual player it will
list all formats that work (few) back then. RBB was zero.
its not weird, it's history,
there are many formats, for CD.
car CD began with CDDA, discs (like sold on the shelf in a store)
those are not file formatted, its track formatted like an an old LP album. (wiki CDDA)
then came file formats. (vast types. MP3 tops.)
there are 3 levels here.
CDR format.
then file types
last music encoding formats(complex)_ask
i can tell you that not all formats are supported on old cars. few to none.
some do SEEM? to work, but are flaky
and after 13years, not at all or more falky, (weak laser, optics dirty)
why not up grade and use USB sticks. ?????
CDs are pretty dead now.
which player, there are many? in dash.?
http://www.wjjeeps.com/radios.htm#AMFMCD
note the lack of CDR play back ( and all others) until 2002.
and even the 2002 is limited.
all car head ends are limited.
for max files.
max folder.s
max files in folder.
just because a CDR pays in a head end that does not support it
means ZERO, as some heads can see some data and attempt to play it blindly, it's just a very dumb headend. (dumb to a fault)
there are endless posts of users trying 100s of ways to fool it
some can,/ most can't (but is not supported so......)
if really curious. post head end ID , like RBB?
we can get the full spec. on that head.
and this,?

my new jeep supports all these , yours dont
Supported formats are: CDDA, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3,WMA, DVD Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, and CDDA+MP3
(this support is progressive from 2002 to present day)
does that help>/?
if not post head end pn. or series class.
i have the 2004 opr.guide, not one word as to what CD's it plays, typical of cars then.
due to offering 6 or more options on audio and cant document them all.
read the faq then ask quesitons. we all this this back 13 long years ago, its not new,, just to you.
thats right 80min disc can be too big for such old payers, you can spend all day fiddlling media. but are you burning using IMGBURN(free), and then pick ICON Discovery? with CDDA in burn drive (a real CDDA) see all those tracks., ???? now set burn speed to1x then click mode and read. this creates an image.bin , after this rip action, you then burn this image file as new, CDDA to CDR disc, the 2 steps is here, read, then burn. its not hard to do. at all. see url below.
if you use a 70min disc, and burned slow, from a real CDDA disc source, it might run on that old dog CD head. only a chance, as it is not certified to do so. they sell those old dog heads used for $20 buy 3 and see if one works, and tell us?
you asked what player I have, it is this one P/N 56038623AF. I am just making cd's with my favorite songs that I either downloaded or ripped from existing cd's. I will try imgburn and see if it helps, thanks
you down load what Mp3? and you can in fact rip 2 ways, one is to build a mirror of a CDDA, or rip a store bought CDDA disk to MP3./ Mp3 files only run on newer disc players, in fact they have a logo on the front "MP3" if you master a real CDDA on CDR media , it might play . CDDA disks are NOT FILES, they are TRACKs, you can in fact mirror that or rip the tracks to MP3 but the player must support MP3 or it wont play,, CDA is CDDA, compact disc Digital Audio, its only tracks, that is why i had you use the imgburn, discovery so you can see, thay are not files but actual tracks. (CDDA is layed out just like a vinyl record (but has extra tracks to hide scratches.) MP3 are files. as are music.wav and other many others.... Start with CDDA real the master or mirror one to CDR, see if that plays.
amazing , i posted a page that shows your head, and its not CRD listed.
read up on RBP 2001 heads. it has vast limits, compared to today.
new post how to get RBP 2001 head-end auto working with CDR media,,,, (google that and its not pretty)

SOURCE: 2004 Jeep Liberty CD Problem
Sometimes if you shut off the vehicle, then continually press the eject button, while you start it, and continue to press the button, until the radio is on for a minute, it'll work. Other than that, Sorry. Best wishes to you.
SOURCE: Factory cd player doesn't play aftermarket burned cd's
What format are you burning them in? CDA or MP3 most Factory units will only play CDA format, just pick you up a copy of Nero and choose Aduio CD, it will convert you MP3 format to CDA and you should be able to playthem with no issue, the CDA format also works in the old portable CD players as well...
Hope this Helps,
David

The burned CD is a music CD and not an mp3 cd and it is burned on an 80 minute cd-r, not on a cd-rw. The CD plays fine in the 10 disk player that is part of my Jeeps sound system but it wont play well in the single CD player in my dash. Everything is the stock infinity sound system that comes with the Grand Cherokee. Plays fine in the 10 disk player, doesnt play well in the single disk player. What is the difference in the two cd players? They are both part of the Grand Cherokee Infiniti sound system. Why does it play fine on on and not the other? Yes of course I cleaned it very well, same problem. Like I said it plays regulare CD's fine, it just has a problem with burned CD's.
I tried using TDK "music" CD's that are made for music only. Same problem. I tried Nero at the slowest speed and WMP12 in Windows 7 at the slowest speed. Also tried both at medium speed. What else can I try?
why do that, it dont suport recordable media. one does and the other does not is my guess or the one has weak laser diode or has filty, optics, or is out of alignement or just plain bad. Why not google this, look at the endless posts on this for 2001 year. most cars do not support this. what is the difference, well they are two different players, in fact can be quite different, may be one has bet firmware for the next years. suport of CDR ripped, CDDA, that is what a store disk is, its CDDA, not files. night and day different. ( if you took it out, wrote all the numbers down on the head, cd, we could ask the maker the true formats supported.. The book does not say it does support it, so why are trying,????
edit, bet = beta. (or worse ALpha support) and what you did is called RIPPING,l the act of copying CDDA to CDR is called RiPPING. now goggle that , how to RIP music to CDR for 2001 cars. it wont be good news....i promise.

about the years for stock car radios/geads 1997-2001. They aren't able to play any burnt CD's(CD-R, CD+R, CD-RW, CD+RW). The stock stereos in those years were not manufactured to support the CD-R, CD+R, CD-RW, CD+RW, MP3 formats. 2002 was the year when the stock stereos started to accept burnt CD's. It will not matter which CD-R's you get, they won't work. Honestly the remedy would be to invest into an aftermarket radio with CD-R, or MP3 format.
some can read RIPPED then burnd CDR in CDDA format, and some dont, some skip tracks, (they are tracks not files) an some work today ,then fail on a hot day. or???

I have used WMP and Nero to create audio cd's. I am not making data cd's with mp3' on them. I wish I could. I couldnt find any info on how to create cdda files from mp3's. I assume that nero or wmp creates them when it makes the audio cd. so are you saying i could take the cdda files from a cd I created and use them in imgburn?
http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html
use imgburn it can mirror a CDDA disc. it sure can but will be CDR + CDDA formated,,,,, and your ain head , does not support CDR media..... how ever, some say , it works a little bit, imagine a recored player, and you copy the vinyl disc to a wax disc (early hackers) and it does play but the wax is so soft, it skips tracks. that is how you main head treats, CDR media. (alien) I'd upgrade. and stop using CD's at all, use USB memory , I have the new stick that is Huge, but is like 1/2" long. in physical size with 2000 or more songs on it (mp3 files) CD is dead technology, i recommend moving along with it. I do. use imgburn to make a .CUE file. the burn a blank CDR from the CUE, this CUE file keeps the track information , in tact. one cool thing about CDDA is fair use, allows you to back up audio discs.

I used imgburn and it worked very well. It still wont play as good as a non burned cd but it is acceptable. I tried a few different brands of cd's but I finally tried TDK Music/Audio CD's and they worked very well. I first burned it on my asus dvd rw drive and it burned at 8x minimum but didnt play well. Next I burned it on my LG DVD RW drive and it wouldnt burn any slower than 24x but it plays very well.
Thank you very much for your help
your welcome and you are not on the bleeding edge of 2001 technology, the best CDR are made i japan. i never used the cheap brands, the are hit and miss... who is that company. its Taiyo Yuden..

http://www.studiodaily.com/2007/07/what-...
not = now, typo, my joke about bleeding edge.
yes, burn slow, some media do have a minium slow, some CD drive HEADs do try and do pickup the , none, CDDA tracks. it will try, no lie, and may work, its and issue of contrast ratios.. can very by day drive was made or its stated of tune, and other factors.. wiki how CDDA are made the CDR, and see the profound differences.. (night and day)
whats nice about imgburn is its free, and very lean. it is also very powerful. i ash canned, nero 10 years ago.
