Im having problems locating my fuel filter location on my 98 jeep Cherokee 4x4,4.0 motor,automatic?
There is no external fuel filter on your jeep, in 1997 they changed the design and put a filter sock over the fuel pump intake in the fuel tank. they only get changed when you end up replacing the fuel pump

Back up a minute...Do you have spark from the coil wire? (juice from coil) If so, change or check rotor and cap (wires do not all go bad at same time so unless they are wet, likely at least good enough to start engine)

Sorry brother, it is in the gas tank with the pump. they used filters that are suppose to be good for the life of the vechicle. you can see the plug if you lift up your spare. hope you dont HAVE TO go in there.

how are the spark plugs?
would start with those.
the fuel filter is usually located under the hood by the intake manifold and attached to the firewall of the car. the pump is located right by the fuel tank and if you cant see it then its inside the fuel tank. (you will have to lower the fuel tank down to get to the pump.)

it is located at the back of the engine on top of the transmission bell housing,the plug runs over to the passenger side of the engine bay and it comes out from behind the engine,you can actually get your hand on the sensor itself from under the hood on the drivers side,and i believe its a 13mm bolt holding it in,the new sensor will have a sticker on the end of it...leave it there,it is used for correct spacing between the sensor and the flywheel,hope this helps
