Small Bits of plastic foam coming out of heater ducts when air is on

Engine runs heats water ,hot water flows to small radiator in footwell fan blows air through small radiator and ducting
So you may have a blockage or faulty control valves and flaps in the system

That is foam from inside the tubing.

What was your temp gauge reading on the vehicle when this occured?
It could be a small plastic blend door in the dash that is operated by a small motor that when you turn your switch to hot the door moves to allow the heat from your heater core to be blown through ducts into your cab. Sometimes these can be calibrated sometimes he plastic door brakes. BUT i would start by bringing the vehicle up to operating temp first and checking it then.

You need to completely remove all plastic air
intake ducting on all vehicles,to expose the throttle
body or ignition coils,plugs etc.

You have to be careful with the small plastic fittings
going to valve covers,vacuum lines ,etc

If you referring to removing the upper intake
manifold,as required on some engines,I'm
not familair with yours

You may need Torx Driver Bits,long ones for that
type of work or just metric sockets.

vw group products used to have a bleed valve on the top heater hose,to vent any trapped air,now you have to undo the jubilee clip on the top heater hose,ALL vw NEED to be bled after refilling water system.

Disconnect heater hoses

Rmv. right/left instrument panel closeouts

Rmv. the carpet

Rmv. rear floor air outlet duct from floor re-enforcement

Rmv. the rear floor air outlet duct

Rmv. the outlet cover screws and heat stakes using a small chisel

Rmv. the outlet cover from the HVAC assembly

Rmv. heater core cover screws and heat stakes using a small chisel

Rmv. heater core cover from HVAC assembly

Rmv. heater core from HVAC assembly

I've experienced a rapid frequency vbibration that sounds like it comes from the front left dash. I isolated it as the small plastic molding on the outside of the windshield, just below the windshield. There is a small plastic strip like molding piece that ends near the end of the windshield. I used some double sided foam tape sandwiched between the bottom of the molding and the plastic piece belwo it and that solved the problem. I have had to replace the tape every year or so

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. 2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System. 3. Use J 38185 in order to position aside the heater hose inlet and outlet clamps at the heater core. 4. Disconnect the inlet and outlet heater hose from the heater core. 5. Remove the RH Instrument Panel Closeout/Insulator panel. 6. Remove the LH Instrument Panel Closeout/Insulator panel 7. Remove the floor carpet. 8. Remove the rear floor air outlet duct from the holes in the floor reinforcement. 9. Disconnect the rear floor air outlet duct from the heater air outlet cover. 10. Remove the rear floor air outlet duct. 11. Remove the heater air outlet cover screws (2). 12. Remove the heater air outlet cover heat stakes (1) with a small chisel. 13. Remove the heater air outlet cover from the HVAC module assembly. 14. Remove the heater core cover screws (2). 15. Remove the heater core cover heat stakes (1) with a small chisel. 16. Remove the heater core cover from the HVAC module assembly. 17. Remove the heater core from the HVAC module assembly. 18. Remove the heater core foam seal (1) from the HVAC module assembly

Drain the coolant. Remove the dashboard first, then a bunch of air ducts, then the heater core cover. Remove the heater hoses in the rear of the motor, and finally the heater core.
