The ignition switch for the civic is expensive. Auto Zone shows a new replacement ignition switch for a 2005 Honda Civic DX 1.7L MFI SOHC 4cyl listed at 455.99. This part also fits 21 other 1.7L MFI SOHC 4cyl Civic Models.

If you can find a low mileage Civic at the wreaking yard with the same switch as your model, that would save you money, but of course if one key is currently used for the door and ignition switch... you would have two keys after swapping out the switch. The old one for the door lock and the new (used) one for the ignition.

which engine, options there are many.???

it caused by 2 things. (and lots of reasons)
1: engine running lean. all engines lean surge. fix that first.
hint use a scan tool see live data........?????
2: ISC system is faulting, the idle speed controller can fail for #1
or for itself. (it can stick) clean in.

what we do is, conduct simple tests to find what is going on.
but first do that missed , 60,000 mile tune up, it might fix the problem
in FACT , tuneups are 100% designed to what, stop misfire.

my wild guess is it flooding.
are the spark tips (all) soaking in fuel , stalled?

thats one test, and is free, for any show with basic tools.

the first thing to learn on EFI spark
is does the ECU create spark or is the distributor , standalone.
its one or the other and you must know that to fix it.

make sure you have a good oil feed to the turbo and its not over boosting and the engine runs smooth through the boost stage

it is more than likely a short in the headlight switch. also try the dimmer switch on the dash for the dash lights.

I have a 97 honda accord and it is helpful to have the tool to remove the clip. you can pick one up pretty reasonably at the local car store. it's pretty much a flat tool that fits between the handle and the door pane.'
