2004 kia senona shift lever hard to move

First of all try to ensure the gear lever is not bent a little.
2nd/. It could be the fork in the shifter lever has bent the change fork which is just inside the gear box, unless you are willing to take the top of gear box shifter control & part top internal of gearbox apart you best take to garage. Best Wishes, Malcolm Campbell.

if the shift process is through a cable then check the cable for wear and fraying, rust or dry. If it is through linkage check for worn /rusted /tight connections

Transmission is probably out or on the verge of going out. Or if it is an automatic and the shifter lever itself is hard to move first check transmission and then check gears and components inside steering column.

YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY CLUTCH DISC AND PRESSURE PLATE.ALSO YOUR SHIFT LEVER LINKAGE LOOSE OR MISSING BOLTS AND COULD BE WORN OR DAMAGE.

there are 2-3 bushings underneath the car that can be changed.....they are about 5-7 dollars each that you can pick up at the dealership and do it yourself...it's not hard at all...drive it on ramps and chock the wheels to make it safe....get underneath and then have someone in the drivers seat to shift the gears(while it's off) so you can see where the moving points are, then just undo the bolts and replace the bushings or you can just remove or loosen the bolts and lubricate them with lots of grease....I would try the grease first, it should do the trick...Kia will charge you about $130 to do it for you...

Pull hard on the steering wheel to the left and the steering wheel lock mechanism should release. I mean pull hard to left because shift interlock is froze if you cannot get it this way you will need a pro to help! Good Luck Mate.
