First check to make sure your relay is working.. It's one of the three boxes installed under the hood, on firewall in front of driver.

If that's good then check you're tranny solenoid pack

SOURCE: transmission

dose the car have a o/d button

if so it sounds like the end clutch has died in the auto and you will need to go to a auto specialist.

check you auto oil level first and go from there

SOURCE: atomatic transmission won't only has second gear

Sounds like you have a solonoid out in your transmission. No simple fix for this. You will more than likely have to drop the transmission to replace solonoid.

SOURCE: transmission problem stuck in sport shift mode

I also have a 2009 Outlander Sportronic transmission with a V6 engine.
Bought it this summer ... transmission appeared fine but seemed to automatically slow down the vehicle using the engines compression whenever I let go of the gas pedal.
Now that the cold weather is upon us here in Canada, whenever I accelarate normally (not like a teenager) the transmission takes quite a bit of time to shift into second... If I rev up the engine (quick take off) it seems to help but the shifting of gears is not as smooth as I would expect it (mildly slips and kicks into second)...

The worst is when come to a complete stop ... then the transmission kicks coming down from the higher gears???

I read somewhere that this is because this transmission is a CVT type and is learning my driving habits in order to adjust itself so the vehicle becomes more fuel efficient... Not sure but if the trany is computer controlled then it must be poorly writen program...
I'm taking the car in to the dealer and will write back on the diagnostic they give me ...

2005 Mitsubishi lancer es transmission shifts harshly into reverse than stays in 3rd gear going forward?

This is an automatic?
I have experienced manual transmissions that became engaged in two gears simultaneously that had to do with shift rails losing a detent ball. Similarly they would be engaged in the same gear all the time.

Automatic transmission not shifting gears

You may have low fluid levels or a vacuum leak. It might be a good idea to have a respectable mechanic (transmission) person diagnose the problem as soon as possible.

Autotrans. wont shift to low gear on start off 1997 jeep grand

You mean the shifter works fine, but first gear won't engage? About all you can do for automatics is check the color and level of transmission fluid. If it smells burnt or looks dark or brown colored, a transmission drain and refill might restore it, and might not.
Also, it could be an electrical problem in the electronic shift mechanism. The dealer or a good shop would have to diagnose that.

you should check out your shift fork when they bend they tend to heat up and get stuck for a bit they should be like $80 dollars but its not the usual DIY because transmission work is tricky i would suggest taking it to a specialized mechanic.

2001 mitsubishi eclipse. Automatic transmission

Transmission may be low on transmission fluid or the transmission fluid pump failed. If it's electrical, you can still get it in to gear, but would not shift gears. Good luck and keep me posted, check transmission fluid level and have the transmission line pressure tested. Before that check all your fuses.
