My 2002 bmw 330d is smoking alot and when the engine is running and i take out the oil dip stick, the oil comes shooting out like a brust pipe... Could it be that some of the breather pipes are blocked? if so where are the breather pipes and how do i get to them?

Hi , this sound like the engine breater is blocked. You will have to remove the air filter to gain access to this item, it is secured to the rocker cover by 4 x 5mm hex bolt screws. if you need any more assistance or help to remove this part just drop me a line . hope this is of help, regards mark

I have a bmw 330d e46 auto (2003) (53 plate) and a red light has come which looks like a cog with a caution sign inside the cog.anyone have any idea what this could mean

hi this could mean that the transmition ( automatic gearbox is low on oil ) there should be a dipstick under the bonnet towards the gearbox where you pull it out to see the oil level.
to get the true reading you dip for oil level when engine is worm
and ticking over .

My 4ja1 Isuzu pick up, fuego , has a smoke or mist coming out in dipstick. I check the breather and it has the same amount of smoke coming out. But every time I checked the level of oil by dip stick,

I take it that this is a diesel engine. The oil you should be using is diesel oil 20w-40 or 50 next there is blowby from the combustion process that is heating the oil in the sump and it is fuming of. If the engine is running well it is not a great problem
If when doing an oil change the oil is thick and heavy and doesn't like to run out then it is a problem as the paraffins in the oil are burning and reducing the oil to tar.and this means engine rebuild.
If it is a petrol engine then you can use diesel oil in it as the only difference is the cleansing additive in the diesel oil. It helps keep a petrol engine clean inside

White smoke from BMW 740i exhaust

white were? the exhaust tip, or other spot, long pipe, name spot?
white, is steam or OIL.
oil smells like burnt oil and takes for ever to dispate
steam is water, and smells , sweet due to 50% glycol inside.
and goes away fast.
but all Gas engines make water at all the time running as a by product of combustion and for sure on cold days, some times full time cold
due to climate effects.
does your neighbors car smoke at same time, (look)
bingo , dew point.

all gas engine smoke cold started, (steam)

so first find out what it is,
take the dip stick out of a hot engine. stalled, drip it on the exhaust
see that smoke ,smell it? that is burning oil
now you know what you have, steam or oil. smoke.

2002 land rover discovery II overheated, it will start but won't keep running

Honestly it sounds like you eighter blow a head gasket or the intake manifold gasket. Do you see white steamy smoke coming out the tail pipe or if you pull the dip stick out do you see white fomey yellowish **** on the stick .Or if you look inside the antifreeze reseveor or radiator cap oil floating on top of the antifreeze. If any of these things are happening then the problem is antifreeze is leaking into one or more of the cylinders and the vehicle will not run good and this will reck the engine fast if not repaired quickly. So look for oil in the antifreeze or antifreeze in the engine oil

Sounds like a cracked head, or blowen head gasket.....Check the oil again and see if it has mubb looking stuff on the dip stick....also Check the raditaior and see if there is oil in there it will be spotty...It could also be bad rings alowing the oil to paas by the rings and burn off threw the exauist...

Best of luck to you.
