P1494 code can cause by EGR lift sensor.

When the engine is cold, disconnect the EGR sensor connector and clean the contacts.

Reconnect the EGR connector and reset code.

================

If the code does come back then I will clean the carbon under the EGR valve (or replace it)/
the EGR air passage MUST be clean also.

Please order a EGR base gasket before you start this job.

It's very time consuming but it preventive you must do.

This should free up the movement on the EGR.

I will ran a FULL TANK of Chevron gas to clean out the injector also.

Reset the code and you should be fine.

Please post more information on the comment window.

SOURCE: crankshaft position sensor location

Hello. One way to check if it is working is when you try to start the car does the needle move on you tac? If not then your crank sensor is more then likely the problem. It is located on the backside of the engine under the intake manifold. If is in about the center of the block. There will be a 10mm bolt holding the sensor in. If you decide to change it yourself (not to terrible of a job) unplug the sensor, remove the bolt and spin it back and forth slightly while pulling it out. It may be stoburn and you might have to work at it for a little bit (not a done of room) but it will come. When it's out the sensor will be shaped kind of like an L. I have changed a few of these over time and they can be a little stoburn. To install just reverse the process.

P1494

The Dodge P1494 engine light code means Leak Detection Pump Switch or Mechanical Fault. A proper diagnosis must be done, you can't simply replace the LDP and expect that to fix the problem. It shouldn't hurt anything to keep driving it for a while until you can get it fixed.
There is a technical service bulletin that applies to your vehicle and it mentions that code specifically. I'm including it here for your information: TSB-18-01-00
SUBJECT: Misdiagnosed Leak Detection Pump Systems With DTC P1494, P0442, P0455, OR P0456.
MODELS: 1997 - 2000 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid/LHS/300M/Vision and others
DISCUSSION:
During evaporative system diagnosis, Leak Detection Pumps have mistakenly been replaced. A thorough inspection for pinched, kinked, or disconnected supply vacuum lines (as currently listed in the Powertrain Diagnostic Procedures) is a critical step in diagnosing DTC P1494 (LDP SW OR MECHANICAL FAULT). Additionally, the other evaporative leak faults (DTC P0442 - SMALL LEAK, P0455 - LARGE LEAK, and P0456 - VERY SMALL LEAK) should have the supply vacuum lines examined for pinches or kinks prior to any LDP component replacement. The supply vacuum lines should be checked from the engine compartment all the way to the fuel tank, including the LDP and purge system.

NOTE: VERIFY ALL RELATED SUPPLY VACUUM LINE ROUTINGS FOR PINCHES, KINKS, OR DISCONNECTION'S BEFORE REPLACING LDP SYSTEM COMPONENTS.

Hope helps (remember rated and comment this).

Engine light on with code 1494runs ok for now but light want stay off when i have it taken off, was told it was sensor to motor, but that there was four different ones and they don't know which one it...

P1494 means Leak Detection Pump Switch or Mechanical Fault - This code appears when there's an issue with the EVAP System (fuel tank fumes) This can be caused by a improperly secured gas cap, faulty gas cap, crack in the vacuum line, etc.

Code 1494

Did you mean p1494? If so then its your evaporative emission ventilation switch or a mechanical fault, probable causes:

  1. Evaporative Emission Ventilation Solenoid failed
  2. An open or short circuit.
  3. Vacuum hose clogged.
  4. PCM Failed
Check the following:

  1. Check the following connectors: A-109, B-76, B-63, A-107. Repair if needed. If its ok then check:
  2. Check the harness wire between the Evaporative Emission Ventilation Solenoid connector. If its ok then:
  3. Replace PCM
