The bubbles are compression gases as you say and the problem will be either a blown head gasket or cracked head. If you cannot afford the time now to pull the head and have it fixed properly the dump a can of chemi-weld in the radiator and hope for the best. It will fix the problem in the short term but it is not the wonder drug for engines so sooner or later you will have to fix it properly.

Might be an oil issue. Oil when hot might be too thick for the pump to pump the oil easily in the engine. Check that and if not that come back.

My b2200 1988 mazda truck over heats, what could it be?

A slow leak shouldn't cause it to run hot, radiators can't be fixed, must be replace,it could be partially clogged, best to replace, get at Autozone, they have lifetime warranty,I use them, also replace the radiator cap, your thermostat may not be fully opening, your water pump could be bad.

1988 b2200 is overheating--we've changed out the lower radiator hose, thermostat, and the upper hose is fine. Why is it overheating? Radiator, heat pump, or water pump?

!st check and make sure the water is flowing in the radiator, then check
the timeing, Mazda will run hot if the timeing is rong.

Over heats after 10 minutes running. I have taken rad out and ran water through it, put it back in and when it is running the bottom hose collapses.

Is the cooling fan running? If so, drain the radiator with the heater control set to hot. Install a new thermostat, and fill the system with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Bleed all air from the system by using bleeder screws if equipped, and by starting the engine with the radiator cap off radiator full. Watch for escaping air bubbles and keep the radiator full. When you see no more air escaping put the cap back on. If the fan is not running then that is your problem. Turn the A/C on and the fan should run continuously. If it does not the fan motor is more than likely bad. Check the fuse for the fan. If it is good, Apply 12 volts directly to the fan motor to check it. If it runs then replace the thermal relay.
