SOURCE: High Beam Indicator blinking

My lights have had this problem for months. From time to time I try to fix it, but I have learned the following:

1. [EASY SOLUTION] After turning off the car and turning off the headlights, when I pull the headlight switch back (toward me) and then let go, the running lights turn off. [/EASY]

Extra information that I haven't figured out how to use yet:

2. Apparently the DRL bulbs operate through the high-beam bulbs; this is why you get the high-beam light when the DRLs are broken (or whatever) and why you can turn them off with the high-beam switch.

3. My wife took the car out for a fluid change once and said the mechanic pointed at a light on the car and said, "that bulb's out," and that if she fixed it the DRL's would work normally, but she forgot which light it was. He even told her what bulb it needed. I took it to the same place and no one knew what I was talking about.

I don't think about trying to fix this very often since I realized I could turn the lights off with the high-beam switch. I used to worry that that blinker was somehow draining the battery, but it never has (whereas I once drained a brand new battery just by leaving the interior light on all night). I hope I've helped!

SOURCE: turn indicators dont work. emergency flashers do.

Most cars have separate relay flashers. One for turn and one for 4 way. Look at turn signal flasher relay. Next if applicable, look for bulb relay.

Why does the high beam indicator stay on when normal headlights are turned on , the headlights and indicators will not work ?

sounds as though it may be a column stalk issue if all these functions are on a column stalk it may have become faulty.
It the light switch for main/dip beam is discrete may be a BCM or other electrical fault.
The first is the most likely but, as column stalks may cost a lot of cash, have a competent auto electrician take a look first

Headlights and turn signals stopped working

First off, do you have a knob on the dash for the headlights, or do you have a lever on the column that turns them on? If you have the lever on the column, and you can turn on the highbeams by pulling back on the turn signal stalk, and hitting the hazard button turns the flashers on, then chances are the stalk is bad (it's called the combination switch and it's a common failure on the B5 chassis cars (the Passat and Audi A4)).

Try that out - hit the hazard button and see if the hazards work. Pull back on the stalk and see if the high beams come on (they should - toggling like that uses a circuit that is separate from the usual headlight circuits).

Post back up with the results of these checks:

Headlight switch on column or dash?
Highbeams turn on when turn signal stalk is pulled back?
Hazard button activates hazard lights?

Let me know what you find out and I'll be able to tell you more definitely.

Ford Focus Flight 2005

The main/high beam relay/switch must be stuck on high presuming the high beam stalk selector does not operate. Probably needs replacement.
