Engine light turns on

When I do 70-80mph for over 20 minutes or so my check engine light will turn on but it doesnt turn on any other time. Any ideas of what the issue might be?

Still may have codes in the systems

Best to go for a road test with a scanner
& look at & record all data.

I would say 100% of all drivability testing is done
from 35 to 58 mph & I personally seldom drive 70
& won't get in a vehicle driven by anyone doing so

Point being-- I think you can find the problem without going
past 55 mph,you just see the MIL Lamp at 70 plus, the issues
have been there for months, most likely

sell the truck and get one that does not have the security system that locks out the engine starting. I wish I could but I can't for a year or so.

P1361 TDC Sensor Intermittent Interruption (I got this from Engine-Light-Help.com)
TDC should mean Top Dead Center.
It is the sensor that tells the computer the #1 cylinder piston is at the very top. And therefore, fires the spark plug.

Since the maintenance done above, I believe the the timing marks for the timing belt is not lined up properly. Being off by one tooth will cause this problem.

SOURCE: LS430 check VSC light on after check engine light on

My car (06 GS430) began giving me more frequent "Check VSC" warnings. (Code P0455 in my case. Really glad I bought that OBDII tool--resetting the codes is a snap!)

I knew that a loose gas cap could cause this, so normally I just give it a twist and it tightens. Now I found that no matter how many "clicks" I tightened the gas cap, it would not cinch down snug. The lightest turn the opposite way would open it.

I was all set to head over to CarQuest for a replacement filler cap. But I thought I'd inspect mine first just to see why it stopped holding. Upon inspection, I saw that what holds the cap in place is compression of the rubber O-ring at the back of the cap, which compresses against the filler neck. That apparently was no longer happening.

I carefully removed the O-ring from the cap--using screwdrivers to lift it over the edge of the groove it sits in. Like removing a bike tire from the rim--work your way around. Then I cut a strip of electrical tape about 10" long, and 1/4" wide. I wound this into the curved groove where the O-ring normally sits, just to build up a little thickness. Put the O-ring back in place. Done.

Now the cap tightens like it's supposed to, and thus far, it has stopped the VSC error codes. Don't know if it will fix your issue or not, Good luck.

Not sure what is causing it, but it sounds like you're running on 3 cyllinders. Check plugs, wires, timing . timing belt may have jumped, bad injector, low fuel pressure.

SOURCE: 2003 VW Jetta TDI Check Engine Light Issue

Try disconnecting the battery (unhook on of the terminals) wait for like 15 mins, hook the terminal once again and start the car. I also own a 2003 Jetta and once my engine light would come on after 2 mins of driving. Disconnecting the battery is like resetting the computer and hopefully the sensor.

Something you can try is resetting your engine control module via your ignition.... Take and disconnect your battery for say 20 to 30 minutes....Reconnect your battery, turn key to on position, do not start your engine, turn key off, turn back to on position after about 5 minutes, turn back off, Start engine, in some models this is a reset for the engine control module.. Hope it helps.....

Warning light check engine light turns on, sometimes after 10-20 minutes drive. The engine is perfectly OK. Indicator light is off after the car has "rested" during the night.

You may have a sensor malfunction. Have a mechanic run the codes and see if there are any stored in the computer. Just because the engine runs OK now does not mean it will continue to do so. The reason the light goes off after the vehicle has set over night may be due to the vehicle not sensing the issue after the long passage of time, until you begin driving again.

How to reset a check engine light

The light is there to warn you of a problem. By disconnecting the battery it should reset it to turn off, however if you do not fix the problem or have the computer code reset, the light will return when it finds the same problem again. But it will give you a short time of operation without the light on...not a good idea without finding out why it came on in the first place??
