If not the solenoid, most likely it is the ignition switch. ford are well known for their solenoids going bad. thats why they are on the fender. but the ignition switch is on the steering column. it can be ajusted. so if it has moved, its not making contact to send electric to the solenoid. it only has two bolts that holds it onto the column. some trucks require steering wheel removal but i believe yours is accesible with just removal of lower dash.

Turn your key on. Do not try to start the engine. Leave the key on for 10 minutes, until the security light stops flashing. Turn off the key when the light stops flashing. Then, turn on the key and crank the engine. It will start.

Engine turns over but will not start.

Hi there:

When the light comes on, one or more diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) are stored in the engine control module. These DTCs remain even if the light goes out. To address a Check Engine Light problem, the DTCs are retrieved and the appropriate troubleshooting information is followed in order to determine the problem.

Just scanned the computer and send us code number find it.

Hope helps.

I have a 2004 Cadilac CTS we bought a replacement chip key which the Chev Olds dealer could not program I took the new key to a Cadilac dealer they told me the key is defective now the Chev dealer has...

Okay, to program a key you will need two keys that are already programmed, insert one key ignition turned on and engine off, remove the key and within 10 sec insert the second key and turn ignition on with engine off, remove that key and within 10 sec insert the key to be programed. you will need to do a 30 min.relearn with only one key,you will turn ignition on with engine off and wait about 10 min until light goes out then remove the key and repeat this step when light goes out repeat step one more time then use key to start car, computer has learned all info. you will now turn off engine, insert programmed key turn key on engine off then remove the key and insert key to be programed within 10 sec.all done good day.

Turn key to start-engine turns and i have spark wont start

I would check fuel pressure so you can rule out pump. I had a bad pump right out of the box before. Also you may want to change fuel filter so you can rule out plugged filter. You have spark, sure seems like still no fuel.

Engine wont start

Try this: attempt to start car. Leave key in "on" position for 10 minutes. Turn key off for 30 seconds. Attempt to start car. Leave key in "on" position for 10 minutes. Turn key off for 30 seconds. Attempt to start car. Leave key in "on" position for 10 minutes. Turn key off for 30 seconds. This lengthy proceedure is the pass-lock relearn. Should crank after this unless something is unplugged, body control module is bad, or other security issue.

The engine won't start

First, check your battery for proper voltage. Check with key off, key on and with key turned to start position. In start, voltage should not drop below 10.5. You did not mention if engine turns but does not start, what you hear or don't hear etc. With key turned to start, there should be 12v at the small terminal on the starter. Large wire on starter should have 12v all the time. Also check for good ground at block.
There's a lot more to this but if you do this, you're going in the right direction.

As soon as I turn the key to the on position, the engine turns over

The problem is either in the mechanism that pushes the rod that activates the ignition switch from the key lock cylinder, or the ignition switch is defective.
