The driver seat will go every direction but the right side of the seat will not go back , i heard a grinding noise before it stopped, now the seat is for my short legged wife :P do you think something is stuck in there and how hard is the seat to take out ?

I think it is old & parts are worn

The only way to confirm wear is to remove the
seat, that part is fairly easy, just remove the 4 bolts
holding it to the floor pan

Figuring out how to power it up out of the car to
test things, will get interesting, I would guess.

pull the seat out of the car by unscrewing the bolts which hold it down. unplug the wiring first.
when you have the seat out and upside down you will see what is broken and you can fix it or buy a replacement seat at a junkyard.

The seat will have to be removed in order to inspect the power seat mechanism. Based on what you have stated, my guess would be that a gear may have stripped inside the mechanism when you heard the popping sound.

XL7 has a clicking scraping noise on drivers side in reverse only. Have checked brakes and they look ok. When I put on jacks with the hub off and turn by hand I can still hear the clicking grinding

Where is the noise? Front or back? At the brake or differential? Usually grinding and clicking is the rear brake drums. Brake shoes/hardware. Year, make, and model?

check for failed wheel bearings or loose wheel on studs. Check suspension ball joints and steering joints the problem is serious so have the front inspected by a competent mechanic

Front right side is making a grinding noise while in two wheel, sounds like 4 wheel drive wont disengage all the way. took hub off everything looks ok. heard that it could be a vacuum problem. did notice...

Could either be a bad vacuum line or the TSB for the IWE solenoid.

If you have the truck running in park ( parking brake, chock wheels, necessary safety precautions ) check the vacuum on the front right IWE vacuum line. there are 2 vacuum hoses on there, 1 is the vac, the other is the vent, which routes up into the engine compartment, and is not hooked to anything.

Usually if it is the TSB, both sides will be making the grinding noise, as they are a common IWE solenoid

TSB : http://my.voyager.net/~sscully/file_tsb06_08_15.pdf

Operationally vacuum holds the IWE ( Integrated Wheel Ends ) out, and once vacuum is removed the spring engages the IWE.

Hi! The problem will be the constant velocity joint on the driver's side. When its worn it makes a noise on turns specially when putting it back to straight direction. Have it replaced and you'll be good. HOpe this helps and have a good one!

Its more then likely a wheel bearing. Try taking it down the highway and turning left and right erratically. Almost like a swerve. If you hear the noise I would put money down on the wheel bearing.

sounds like something was jammed, or loose. I'd recommend taking it back to where the brakes were done and have them check it out in case something they did is messed up.
