yes there is a relay switch in engine compartment or under dash

some times the door switch can be faulty. and it may be coincidence that the interior switch is faulty too. i have owned alot of S- series trucks and a few of them have done this to me. you need to individually check each door for switch contact

This requires a very simple fix. All you have to do is spray some WD-40 on each of the plastic door latches (if you don't know which door is causing the problem) which are located at the end of each door which will be at the end of the door farthest away from the door hinges. This is where the dome on/off switches are located. The dome switches are incorporated into the door latch assembly.

I had the same problem and could not understand why I THOUGHT I checked all the fuses, but there is a fuse on the drivers side which is covered by a black thing (no idea why). It is listed as IOD or something. If you lift the black thing up and remove the fuse you will notice it is blown. Replace this and all will be well again.
SOURCE: check fuse replace brake light switch, and still
first check the fuse for the stop light circuit, if it's good, check your bulbs, it's possible they are all burned out! take one of them out, swap in a new one, and see if it lights. If not, get a wiring diagram and start checking for your powers and grounds. Take a look at the stop light switch on the brake pedal. If it's no good, there is a good chance that your cruise control may not work properly either. Good luck.
