Is this to work out which way up it goes into the engine block? If you look closely at the thermostat You will see a large spring on one end. That is the end that goes into the hole in the engine block. when it is in place you should not be able to see that spring.
drain the coolant from radiator remove upper hose from thermostat housing clean housing and block install new thermostat with the spring end toward the block pointed to radiator use a new gasket and a small amount of gasket sealer when tightning the bolts back on the thermostat housing be sur to run them down evenly or you will crack the housing reinstall hose add coolant start and check for leaks
First drain some of the anti freeze,then follow top radiator hose to thermostat housing,remove hose from housing,unloosen clamp,then remove 2 bolts on housing and pry off,then scrap both ends,remove old gasket and silicone,don't scrape to hard and scar metal.install thermostat with spring toward engine and jiggler up,use thermostat silicone on both surfaces,then install gasket and thermostat cover then tighten screws,install hose,tighten clamp,add antifreeze.check your overflow container and add if low.Usually when you install new thermostat,change anti freeze and radiator cap.
NOT A HARD JOB.DRAIN OUT SOME OF YOUR COOLANT UNTIL BELOW THERMOSTAT.REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT COVER THEN REMOVE THE AIR FILTER HOUSING.THEN LOOSEN REMOVE HOSE CLAMP TO THERMOSTAT HOUSING.THEN REMOVE THERMOSTAT HOUSING AND THERMOSTAT.THEN INSTALL NEW THERMOSTAT WITH NEW O RING ON THERMOSTAT. LUBRICATE NEW O RING.BESURE INSTALL NEW THERMOSTAT WITH THE SPRING END ON THE INSIDE OF THE HOUSING.TORQUE THERMOSTAT HOUSING BOLTS TO 89 INCH POUNDS.
Drain the cooling system and remove the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing.
Remove the thermostat housing bolts, the housing and the thermostat.
Clean the gasket mounting surfaces.
To install, use new gaskets and reverse the removal procedures;
install the thermostat's spring end toward the engine. Torque the
housing bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
follow top radiator hose from radiator to engine wear hose ends, it will be clamped to whats called the gooseneck, thermostat is under that. you will have to drain coolant, not all, maybe 1 half gal. before you remove it. 2 bolts new gasget new thermostat, just remember spring on new thermostat goes in engine.
Hi there ... I'm not sure if you've pulled the old thermostat out yet. If you haven't pulled it out look at the way it's in. Normally the but end is towards the engine. (**** end is the end with the spring in it)
