1998 Licoln Continental 4.6 liter VTech

Put mid grade gas in 1998 Lincoln Continental and it started knocking on passengers side back top of motor. So i changed the oil and filter and that did nothing to help!! So was told to add octane booster and marvelous miracle treatment to the gas ... Did that and drove a few miles and it just stopped running and still had the knock.. So i replaced the spark plugs siphoned the gas out of the car and put a new gas filter and top grade gas which is all it had ever ran with before now!!..I got the car to crank but only when i kept the gas about half way down to keep it running and all the time still has the knock ... when i let the gas off some it just stopped running all together so i took out plugs and found that they had some oil on them i cleaned them and blew out each plug hole with a compressor it cranked again but still had the knock !! and would stay running as long as i kept the gas half way to the floor again ... Now i am stuck on what to do also it has a new battery but it has drained the juice from it 3 times now while trying to crank it Have had to recharge battery twice already what should i do ?

The fact that you have indicated the knock is in a very specific area of the engine indicates to me that the knock is there while idling and with you listening with the hood open. Spark knock, the kind that is caused by using lower-than-recommended octane gasoline, usually only happens when the engine is under load, not at idle.
I think you have a mechanical problem - valves, lash adjusters, maybe the cam itself. Do a compression check. If you have valves not working properly or not closing properly, this should help you find the area to check for damage.

SOURCE: Engine Knock on a 98 Isuzu Rodeo

Most likely it is a rod bearing and motor would have to be dissassembled to diagnose, you might want think about installing a low milege used replacment since it was run 5 quarts low on motor oil.

SOURCE: 1998 mitsubishi mirage wont start?

check if the fuel pump is working, if you have someone near the tank and someone else crank motor you should be able to hear a bzzzzzz rom the tank from the pump. if no noise is heard then hit or thump the tank, this can make a fuel pump start to work again, if it starts, then the pump is almost dead

SOURCE: stall out when given gas to excellerate ... runs fine in idle

For all those out there that have had problems with your Chevy Aveo Stalling, inconsistent idling, hard to start, or throttle problems, Hollywood Harv has the answer for you. Try a new Valve Idling Air Cont GM part number 93744675. You only need one and it has to be install by Chevrolet so they can place in the codes to make it work properly. Toss the old one away as most likely has so much carbon build up on the part that it stuck or struggling to function properly. It worked on mine after many different attempts at other stuff! This is a sure winner! Good luck and drive safe! Hollywood Harv

Locate water pump and thermostat on a 96 Lincoln continental?

Water pump is in the middle of the motor on the passenger side of a front wheel drive (big pulley beside alternator). The thermostat should be at the driver side of motor ( follow the top hose from the radiator to the connection at motor) that will be the thermostat housing!

Knocking engine

You may have pumped a tank of bad gas originally. It might have had water in it along with some other bad stuff. The knocking could have been the water - water will not compress like gasoline will.
I think I would take a sample of whats in the tank and examine it.
You may have to try flushing out the fuel system including the injectors.

Put mid grade gas in 1998 Lincoln continental 4.6 liter , And it started knocking on the passenger top back end of motor, Changed the oil and that made no difference, Put octane booster and Marvalous...

This is a curious problem. You have gone to a lot of work and I can not tell if part of your problem is intermittent cranking or that it would not start and run until you changed plugs, besides the knock.

I would take a fuel sample. You may have filled it with E85 instead of normal fuel. Unless you were near empty, there was some higher grade of fuel in the tank to mix with what you added.

You might want to swap the fuel injector to a closer one on the opposite side of the motor and see if the knock moves. Borrow a Noide tester for the aft fuel injector lead wires to see if they are constantly firing. Some auto parts stores have loaner programs.

You can look up if your model has a knock sensor on the engine.
You might try to squirt a little oil in the injector port to see if it has any effect.

1995 Lincoln Continental, passenger seat won't tilt back forward

YOU HAVE A SWITCH OR A TILT ACTUATOR MOTOR PROBLEM. LINCOLNS HAVE 5 OR 6 ELECTRIC MOTORS MOUNTED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF EACH FRONT SEAT WHICH REQUIRES REMOVING THE SEAT TO INSPECT .THEIR ARE ALSO CABLES ATTATCHED TO THESE MOTORS SO LISTEN WHEN YOU HIT THE TILT SWITCH DO YOU HEAR A MOTOR NOISE? IF YOU DO THEN YOU MAY HAVE A BAD CABLE.

What type of gas should I put in my 1998 Lincoln Town Car Executive Series? 87, 89, or 93?

Any regular gas is ok for your type of car. But I suggested once a while when you top up the gas for your car, it is better to top a higher grade gas. Because higher grade gas will have better gas combustion and it help clean your fuel injector. You do not have to top full tank on higher grade gas. I will say maybe about five gallon should be ok.

Cabin air filter replacement

The cabin air filter is located under the cowl. Open the hood, proceed to the passenger side of the car and you will see where the right side wiper is resting, under the black plastic cowl there the cabin filter is.
