Temp goes to normal quickly. heat temp goes way up when accelerator is pressed. air temp goes down when coasting or idling. upper hose gets hot from thermostat and lower hose stays cold. radiator and resivior are full. when both hoses are squeezed, fluid in radiator rises. coolant appears to be leaking /spraying from resivior cap while driving. is there a block, bad thermostat, bad water pump, air in system?
Not sure I follow your wording on the different temps. If the system is full of coolant and working correctly, the thermostat should open at 195 degrees which would be several miles down the road. Once the thermostat opens both radiator hoses should be warm. If the water pump is not working the engine will get hot very quickly.
Have you tried running without the thermostat to see what happens ?

First thing first, turn off the engine wait for 15 - 20 mints, open the radiator cap and fill it up to the top then start the engine and see if it needs more water adn add as needed, then wait till you ca see the water circulating in the radiator now instead of corculating if it starts boiling out shut the engine replace the thermostat and do the whole thing again.
unless there is water in the engine the gauge will not be able to show the actual temp of the engine, so always malke sure you have water / antifreeze

you should have hot water on all rad. hoses when the motor is running at a norm. temp. the water is not going through the heater core like it should. you have cutoff valve bad low water are a stopped heater.try a hoter thermostat if none of the above are true.

sounds like you have air bubbles in the system
SOURCE: when idling the temp. stays @190f ,when driving
need water pump has plastic torbine and slips off metal gear so change water pump and thermostat

Heres a couple of things you can check. Start your car and remove the radiator cap,(before it gets hot mind you) when it reaches norm operating temp, look inside radiator to see if water is circulating. If its not moving, its a bad water pump. Also, youre hoses should never collapse, if they collapse when they get hot maybe you need new hoses? Finally, if those dont work, flush out your radiator. Open the bottom cockpit and use a garden hose and let it flush out the system while the car is running, about 10 mins should do the trick. If the radiator looks clean inside then it doesnt need flushed.
