Possibly but to find the fault have the fault codes read . It may be the accelerator position sensor . Don't waste money until you have the codes to point you in the right direction

SOURCE: Acceleration - cannot get above 40 miles per hr.

If the engine revs up while in drive and running at 40mph, your transmission is probably slipping. Try checking your transmission fluid level. If it is OK, I would get it by a garage to have them look at it to cofirm.

SOURCE: High rev when starting hyundai atos

Check the vacuum hoses, but sounds like the IAC or even the o2 sensors. The computer will pick up on the o2 sensors but not the IAC..Go to your local ADVANCE store and they will check on computer for free :)

SOURCE: vehicle hakes when driving 45 to 50 miles per hour

Check wheel balance,
check steering linkages for loosness - such as tie rod ends, steering rack linkages etc,
check driveline for worn/loose joints and bearings.

SOURCE: bogs down on acceleration

buy 2 fuel filters. buy can of SEAFOAM at parts store. use 1 f filter to replace old one(you'll probably see old looking gas, with an odor).Pour SEAFOAM into tank. fill up with PREMIUM gas. after about 100 miles change out fuel filter 1 last time..add SEAFOAM every 3-5000 miles and you should be fine. the ethanol in the gas turns to goop and adds water to your fuel, and puts carbon on your valves and through out your emission and fuel system. The ethanol will be alright as long as you follow these instructions. and the SEAFOAM will keep you from having line freeze up in the cold months ahead, and will give you better gas mileage. good luck.

Check your IAC motor (Idle Air Control) It could be sticking open.

Clean the MAF sensor and the IAC valve with MAF cleaner only...change your oil and filter, put correct air in tires and disconnect battery cable....wait 10 minutes, reconnect battery, turn off all accessories, lights, wipers, radio etc...put key in ignition and turn to the on position, BUT do not start...wait 1minute then turn off...turn on again and start car...do not rev, let car idle for 15 minutes, then go for a 20 minute drive. Before you take the car for another test, drive it for approximately 1 hour, both in the city and on the highway so the sensors can readjust....do not race or over rev the car...drive normally....cheers.

I just purchased a 02 hyundai accent and it sounds like it is skipping especially when it is sitting still. It also idles high.Could it be a timing issue?Or some kind of censer?Do I need to limit my driving...

sounds like a misfire like a chugging sound maybe time for a tune up plugs and wires should be pretty easy if its a four cylinder right on top of the engine check the wires for charred discolored spots and the plugs for fouling(wet gunked up or burned away) but you should limit driving until its fixed to prevent further damage hope this helps good luck

My Hyundai Accent GL is beginning to idle to high, when driving

I think I would seek a different opinion from a shop that has a good reputation. This sounds like 'make-work' to me. We have several shops in our area that are known for doing the same thing! Service costs are high enough with trying to gouge someone. Good luck!

Hyundai Sonata 2002 idle at high RPM and accelerate 40-45 MPH

Look for a vacuum leak somewhere. This is the most common problem for a high idle.

02 accent sounds like it wants to turn off while driving

trust the guy who said the other guy was full of it, I doubt it is the timing belt at 72,000 miles, more likely the idle speed control motor needs to be cleaned or a you have a defective MAP or MAF sensor...
