SOURCE: need to know what p1188 is to diy er

SAE Code P1188 DTC Code 17596 Description Linear 02 Sensor / Compensator Resistor Short to ground SAE Code P1189 DTC Code 17597 Description Linear 02 Sensor / Compensator Resistor Short to B+ SAE Code P0170 DTC Code 16554 Description Fuel Trim, Bank1 Malfunction

Basically you need a new oxygen sensor, The fuel trim code is from the computer trying to adjust the fuel/Air mixture to compensate for the bad signal from the sensor. Just change the one closer to the engine, the one behind the Catalytic converter will thow a different code when it fails.

SOURCE: engine misfire and some times does not start when cold

Replace the Oxygen sensor. All your trouble codes are downstream of the oxygen sensor, and are related to it.

Once you replace the oxygen sensor (replace with a BOSCH sensor!), remove the positive battery cable, step on your brakes for 10 seconds, then reattach the cable. This will clear the codes from your ECM (Electronic Control Module).

SOURCE: 2000 bmw 323i P0173 & P0170 trouble codes

Hello There

These are very common codes on BMW's which can also be false codes, try clearing the codes and run the test again they may not come up again.
With regards to the sound which you thought was a vacum leak there a breather pipe which runs under the plastic engine cover near the injectors which always gets a tear init which will need replacing.

Hope this helps, please don't forget to rate me.

SOURCE: Help 10 codes on 323i!

These codes will have to be cleared and the car driven through a drive cycle, maybe a couple of times, is the check engine light off? Also you should check your MAF sensor it may need to be cleaned or replaced and makes sure there are no holes in your intake tubing. Hope this helps, let me know.

What part do i buy to replace oxygen sensor Bank2, senosr 2 code P057 for a 2006 mitsubishi montero limited

This is a sensor in the exhaust system. If you take your vehicle details to a Good parts retailer and ask for an Oxygen sensor. They are also know as O2 or Lambda sensors. Sensor 2 is positioned 'after' the catalytic converter, (the CAT). There are 2 sensors for each exhaust fitted, one before and one after the CAT. Bank 2 is the side of the engine involved.

Just got there codes for my 2000 323I P1250 P1188 P1189 P0304 P0173 P0170 It pass the test,anyone have any ideas ???

P0304 = #4 cylinder misfires
P0170 = Fuel Trim, Bank-1
P0173 = Fuel Trim, Bank-2
P1250 = this is invalid code for BMW
P1188 = Fuel control, bank-1, sensor-1 (pre-cat sensor)
P1189 = Fuel control, bank-2, sensor-1 (pre-cat sensor)
Vacuum leaks and/or sensor defective for the issues of the codes.
This error codes really need parts to replace. But you have to replace the thermostat first. Then clear the codes and see if any reappears,then replace defective part/s

Where is fuel trim bank 2 located on bmw 2000 740i bmw

Are you getting the code P0173 That would mean that the ECU was unable to set the correct mixture for cylinders 4-6 (bank 2). I'd guess that the most likely culprit for that failure would be a failing pre-cat O2 sensor based on the code alone.The pre-cat O2 sensors are a critical part of the feedback loop for mixture control. When an O2 sensor ages enough it no longer delivers a valid signal to the ECU, which can cause this fault. The only other component that will affect only bank 2 is the catalytic converter for that bank. Given relative costs of O2 sensors and catalytic converters I'd change out both pre-cat O2 sensors and see if that helps. FYI: O2 sensors are usually staring to fail at 80-90K.
