Doors open light on on dash

You probably have a broken door switch., so the system thinks a door is open. Fairly common failure, easy and inexpensive to fix.

Same for both doors? If not, I'd check the switch(s) on the drivers door (may be more than one), or may be just one that has multiple contacts and the ones for the lights may be faulty.

have you checked the door switch to see if it makes: open/close contact??;maybe try pushing the switch all the way in by hand, with door open, to see if light goes off/on and if it does,then switch is not working properly and not being pushed all the way in when door closes.

You mean the lights for the gauges come on and off with the headlight switch off ?
Does this happen even with the fuse removed ?

Since they "do" work with the dial and the switch on the light, I'd check the plunger mounted on the side of the dash that the door releases when you open the door. (If it's not on the side of the dash like my 99, it's on the front door jamb and will be a metal plunger.) Mine is plastic and on the side of the dash. You can push it in and out with your fingers. A small screwdriver will pry it out of the dash if it's the plastic one. Replacements are cheap and can be picked up from local auto parts stores. If you want to test it before buying a new one, pop it out, disconnect the wires, then use a multi meter or test light on the leads coming out of the dash. If there is power there, it's most likey the switch. I've also seen it where the switch is just stuck pushed in and doesn't pop out when you open the door. Check yours with the door open. It should be "out". If not, wiggle/push/flick it and see if it pops out and the light comes on.

they have little pin switches on the inside of the door jar's check all these are pushing in and then back out when the door is open, they stick internally sometimes and you have to wd-40 them to free them up.

Also is the door light the same one for the boot? or is that another light? if it is a shared light for both then check the boot lid underside and the small panel on the bottom where your knees would be ensure these are all clean and have a good contact.

Most likely the button on the door jam for the closed door maybe bad. Make sure the selection switch by the light is on DOOR. Then if the button is working, the open door symbol on your dash display should light up with the door open.

If it doesn't light up on the dash display with the door open, then the button on the door jam is bad.

head light switch is bad

All the door switches use the same wiring harness. It's an orange and a white wire. There is a switch on the dash to turn the dome and wheel lights off. If the lights come on with the dimmer, the whole harness is OK, so now check to see if that switch is turned off... or bad
