Hi, I have a 1996 Volvo wagon 850 turbo. I just bought it and when you hold the rpm's at 3 and a half it was blowing out smoke after about 600 miles it stoped smelling like burning oil and doesn't blow out any smoke. But I use a court of oil in about every 150 miles. What could this be?
Thank's Jodie

Your engine could have a crack in it or your valve seals in your head could leak oil into it but your turbo would make a lot of smoke so much you couldn't even drive it and take it to auto zone to check your vacuums but i highly drought that is the problem

My Volvo s40 2.0 none turbo burns oil and is slower and misfires sometimes hard start when hot what causes this?

Burning oil may be the cause of the rest. Bad PCV system? Worn rings? Bad valve guide seals? Fully describe how and when it burns oil.

Got a 95 850 volvo and it started to leak red fluid from the transmision. what is the fix AJ

Try to locate where it leaks from ,might be from oil pan or drain plug or transmission or fly wheel seal.

Put a cardboard under the car to locate the exact spot. Good luck

Blue smoke on startup warm engine

If you have a turbo, a shaft seal may be leaking some oil. Otherwise, the valve seals may be hard or worn enough to pass some oil during 'off' time. As long as it smokes only at startup, there is probably little to worry about until it begins smoking all of the time--then it will be time to replace the leaking seals which can be done without removing the heads. You might try a seal-softener additive in the oil or use 'high mileage' oil which contains seal softener. It also helps loosen sticking rings as well. Hope this helps.

2001 Volvo S40 1.9T - oil leaking into turbo

It's very common for the turbo return line seal to leak. That is what I would check first, when it leaks, it will spray oil all over the turbo lines and the rear of the engine.

1997 Volvo 850 wagon

There is a good chance it is the rear main seal. If this is a turbo engine, the oil return line seal from the bottom of the turbo to the block leaks also. Shop should be able to clean everything off and spay some dust on the area. Drive the car a few days, and take another look. You really need a lift to get a good look.
