SOURCE: how to change the upstream oxygen sensors on 2001 chrysler sebring 2.7

It's pretty easy. Spray it liberally with solvent to work on the threads. PB blaster, or Liquid Wrench. There is a special socket at parts stores (looks like a sparkplug socket with an opening for the elec. connector). Don't always need it, most have mounting bolts now. I use anti-seize compound on the threads, in case you ever want to remove it again. Be sure and take negative cable off before beginning.

How to change upstream o2 sensor on 2008 chevy uplander 3.9l ?

  • 1 Warm up the engine for about four minutes to bring it to operating temperature. Then turn off the engine. This will avoid damage to the exhaust pipe threads if that sensor has seized to the pipe.
  • 2 Find the oxygen sensor or sensors you need to replace. The upstream sensor is located near the exhaust manifold and the downstream sensor on the back exhaust pipe, close to the catalytic converter.
  • 3 Disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connector. Depending on your particular Chevy model, both sensors may be disconnected from the engine compartment.
  • 4 Lift the front of your Chevy model to reach the sensor you need to change, if necessary. Use a floor jack and two jack stands to support it.
  • 5 Remove the oxygen sensor using a box-end wrench or a ratchet and oxygen-sensor socket.

    Oxyen senser

This car had 3 different engine options, but I only show one sensor upstream from the catalytic converter.
Before you replace it know that something else can make that code set. The computer does not like the reading from the sensor.

2001 buick regal w/ bad ignition coil and clogged catylitic conv.

Hello! The defective ignition coil more than likely contaminated the downstream O2 sensor...If there isn't a trouble code and engine performs in a normal fashion, there's no reason to change the upstream sensor...

    UPSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR
The oxygen sensor is installed in the exhaust manifold Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 2.4L. or Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 3.0L. or Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 3.3/3.8L .

CAUTION: Do not pull on the oxygen sensor wire when unplugging the electrical connector.

WARNING: THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER MAY BE EXTREMELY HOT. USE CARE WHEN SERVICING THE OXYGEN SENSOR.

    REMOVAL
    Raise and support vehicle.
    Unplug oxygen sensor electrical connector.
Use a socket such as Snap-On YA8875 or equivalent to remove sensor.
When the sensor is removed, the exhaust manifold threads must be cleaned with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. If using original sensor, coat the threads with Loctite 771-64 anti-seize compound or equivalent.
    INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedure to install a new sensor
New sensors are packaged with compound on the threads and no additional compound is required. The sensor must be tightened to 27 N·m (20 ft. lbs.) torque

How do i buy online the oxygen sensors for a 2001?

The oxygen sensor are just refered to as upstream for the o2s and down stream are actually refered to as catalytic monitors. So if you have lean or rich codes these would refer to the upstream .

I own a 1999 Toyota Solara and the check ingine light is on. I have a n ODB code reader and it reads the code #P0135 heated oxygen senser circiut malfunctoin (bank 1, senser 1) I changed the oxygen senser...

Changing the O2 sensor for a P-0135? Use a TOYOTA sensor. The aftermarket/generic sensors do NOT work in Toyotas.

User with the smoking problem: Remove the valve cover & check for engine oil sludge where the cams ride. If it is sludged, a rebuild is necessary, BUT, Toyota DOES have warranty assistance for this issue. All you need are oil change receipts.
