Replace it NOW! Wash down the Battery compartment with a Baking Soda Slurry and rinse very well before replacing the battery.

BMW MINI R50 charge warning light is on. It turned on after oil leaked flashy from the power steering pump. Power generation and charging are normal. What's the problem?

no year car told at all.
using voltmeter
what is battery voltage at idle.?
not told' 13. to 15vdc is par, if below the alternator is dead or its fuses blown.
if ALT is dead, driving the car , far (30min) will make engine stall and be dead, until battery is jump started or charged.

that lamp comes of a reason, it means
fully load test the battery and test the alternator correctly
check all fuses
scan the OBd2 port with a scan tool for charge system errors.

If the battery is bad,the alternator can in fact refuse to charge it.
intermittent battery cell shorts or opens can do that.
batteries over 7 years are , love to fail.

"it turned on after oil leaked flashy/, " i am not sure what flashy means.

DId the PS pump fail and leak and squirt PS fluid to some electronics
under the hood, that can be vary bad, if did.
be more clear on PS leaks, leaked to where. ? matters

I have a 1999 honda accord with issues.. i have replaced a leaking battery and terminals. the car wouldnt start before that. after changing the battery, i have no power at all inside the car.

when the battery leaked on top of the battery ?
It would have had corrosion on the battery terminals like a white chalky residue ?
You may need to get a rat tail file and gently file the inside of the terminals to clean the corrosion off or buy new replacement battery terminals and reattach to the battery cables.

If you have a volt meter put the negative probe directly on the negative battery post and put the positive probe directly on the positive post of the battery. If you read 12 volts then try doing this on the battery terminal connectors and see if they read 12 Volts.

Corrosion might be in the cables depends on how bad the leak was .

Left batteries in marina 300 2 way radio .batteries leaked.now wont work .can it be repaired?

yes but usually damage from leaking batteries are the battery connections , tabs and wires which can be replaced and or cleaned up to make connections workable --when battery damage exceeds the battery compartment and into the electronics [motherboard and other circuits] usually the price of repair can be close to buying a new one

What would leak oil onto the starter

the oil leak could be a bad valve cover gasket needing replacement, a head gasket leaking oil, a leaking intake gasket and oil running down along the engine block and dripping. it could be an oil pressure switch that is leaking. it is near the starter while driving or engine running can spray oil onto the starter. unless the oil leak is very bad and has been leaking a long time onto the starter will not cause it to act like a dead battery even then not likely. have a starter draw test down to check condition of the starter.

Error code p0455

Evap leak detected, (charcoal canister).. Vacuum leaks, GAS CAP will do this, If new cap is installed, disconnect battery for 30 min, then replace battery connections. Fuel tank leaking (rare) could do it.

I had a small leak and a mechanic told me just to get some "seal it" I did and the leak went away for 1 week. This morning... My battery light came on and stayed on as well as my abs light and the leak is...

DID NOT MENTION WHATS LEAKING.BUT YOU NEED TO REPLACE OR FIX WHATS LEAKING PATCHING UP NOT GOING TO FIX.BATTERY LIGHT MOST LIKELY ALTERNATOR NOT CHARGING OR DRIVE BELT SLIPPING DUE TO COOLANT LEAK FROM WATER PUMP OR BAD BELT TENSIONER..CHECK ALTERNATOR OUT PUT WITH ENGINE RUNNING.HOOK DIGITAL VOLT METER TO BATTERY.VOLTAGE SHOULD BE 13.5 - 14.5 VOLTS.IF NOT CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND WIRES MAKE NONE LOOSE OR DAMAGE.ALSO MAKE SURE BATTERY CABLES IS ON TIGHT.FREE FROM CORROSION.

Smell of rotten eggs, and smoke coming from under neath the battery on the drivers side.

Disconnect the battery and remove it...WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING!! The battery sounds like it is leaking acid and, as such, needs to be replaced ASAP! Once you pull the battery out of the car, only set it down on a surface that will not erode from the acid. If the battery is indeed leaking, you will see the corrosion where the battery was eating away the metal. This will need to be cleaned and neutralized before anything else can happen, if the battery is leaking.

I do think your battery is leaking; sulfuric acid smells like rotten eggs and the smoke is from the acid eating the metal it is coming into contact with.

I have a 2003 dodge ram 1500 with a V-8 4.7 engine and my check engine light came on with a P0456 code and I have been told that it could be the gas cap, I have checked it and it seems fine but should I...

The leak in your evap system is very small at .020. It is more than likely a small split in a hose somewhere. The cap is probably ok, we rarely find a bad one. If it is a small split in a hose it will only get larger over time. Here is the factory info on the code. We have found that alot of these leaks are from a small hose on the evap canister under the vehicle, but with out looking at your vehicle it is hard to say. If the leak goes away or is no longer large enough to be detected, your light will go out after a few days. These leaks are emmissions related and will not effect the integrity of the vehicle. I would have it checked and corrected if the light stays on at your convienience.
