Battery indicator voltage keeps going down

1995 Buick lesabre initially when driven would turn off on it's own would have to wait a while before would turn back on. Now car shut off and battery dead. Battery is new but test said alternator bad. Alternator was change then went completely dead again. Switched alternator again did not go dead but now when stop or turn corners the battery gage inside goes down to 8 then back up again. What could be the issue?

SOURCE: 2003 Impala - mystery problem???

you have something thats staying on with power when you shut the car off, first check all lights glove apartment, underhood,in trunk ,just because ther closed doesnt mean the light is off, check your car at night it might help to see the lights,if not another way is to take a multi meter to the battery and while some holds the meter pull out fuses in your fus box one at a time to see when the meter makes a change, this will help you to narrow down whats staying on and draining the power from the battery,if this helps please give me a fix ya vote

SOURCE: Charging system

change your battery cables and check all wires on the alternator for loose connections, expecially the grounds.

SOURCE: replaced alternator and battery still showing low/varying voltage

It soundls like you have a high powered sound system and you might have to step up to a higher amp alternator, that will give you enough power. Your battery should be fine too. Try to find out if the voltage regulator is built into the alternator and if not ask to find out where it is on the car and replace that to.

Why won't my battery keep a charge on my 1995 Buick lesabre

There are really only three answers to this, 1.The battery is defective (have it load tested) 2. The battery charging system in the car is defective (have that tested as well) 3. You have a parasitic draw from some light or other thing that is left on, visor lights are a common source of this type of draw.

My 2001 Buick lesabre the battery will drain down

Ok, i've got 2 things to try.

1) Wait until you haven't driven the car for around 6 hours. Open the trunk and reach to the back of the seat and up. There, in between the rear speaker area is the radio/stereo amplifier. I had this same problem on my 01 Impala. The Amp stays on and drains the battery. If you haven't used the vehicle in a while, that Amp should be cold. If it is hot, then that is your parasitic draw on the battery. I bought a $12 dollar wire harness on Ebay that bypassed the amp.

2) your security light is an indicator of a security issue. On your vehicle the system can cause a draw when failed. This may be the issue as well.

Voltage regulator

Sounds like a bad connection. The alternator only charges the battery, so if it or the voltage regulator in the alternator fails, the battery would slowly run down, not die all at once.

Have the alternator checked,it needs to be checked at the battery, with the lights on,and ac on high blower setting, the voltage reading should be 13.65 volts to 14.25 volts, any less,it needs a new alternator, have the battery checked and charged up on a slow charge, about 36 hours, this will give it a full deep charge,a fast charge does nothing,it only gives it a surface charge, and it does not stay.If this was at all helpful, please rate, thank you,the electric system can not run all the features, and the ignition with the alternator not charging correctly.

Infrequently my head and dash lights dimm and the engine about stalls out. replaced the alternator today still with the same problem. the voltage will go from 14-13.5 v and drop down to 11.5 to 12 v.

the voltage reading you gave ,are they with a multi meter at the battery post? or watching the gauge,
with the car not running check what voltage is at battery post, then check voltage on large wire on alternator and battery ground, see if they are exactly the same, they should be.now move ground to engine and see if still the same voltage, should be.start car and check voltage at alternator post and ground again, see if it fluctuates from there,it sound like the regulator in side the alternator is not keeping up with a load on the system, possible bad diode.

1995 Buick Lesabre: security blinks and car will not start

If the starter is turning the engine, try re-setting the security system (leave key on till light stops blinking.) If the starter does not turn, you may have some success in re-setting system, if not you need to check battery voltage and voltages in starter system till you find the problem...can be something as simple as a bad connection at the battery. If you need help with further testing, just ask.
