Cx 7 mazda cel codes P0011 and P0016

Causes may include:
  • Timing chain stretched, or timing belt skipped a tooth due to wear
  • Misalignment of timing belt/chain
  • Tone ring on crankshaft slipped/broken
  • Tone ring on camshaft slipped/broken
  • Bad crank sensor
  • Bad cam sensor
  • Damaged wiring to crank/cam sensor
  • Timing belt/chain tensioner damaged
  1. First, visually inspect the cam and crank sensors and their harnesses for damage. If you notice broken/frayed wires, repair and recheck.
  2. If you have access to a scope, check the cam and crank patterns. If a pattern is missing, suspect a bad sensor or a slipping tone ring. Remove the cam gear and the crankshaft harmonic balancer and inspect the tone rings for proper alignment and make sure they're not loose or damaged or that they haven't sheared the key that aligns them. If they are properly installed, replace the sensor.
  3. If the signal appears normal, then check the timing chain/belt for proper alignment. If it's misaligned, check for a damaged tensioner that may have allowed the chain/belt to slip a tooth or several teeth. Also check that the belt/chain isn't stretched. Repair and recheck

I have a 1995 Subaru legacy. While overtaking another vehicle, there was a loud noise, possibly a backfire and the engine died. I coasted to the side and had the car towed to a garage. I suspected a...

was the timing belt broken?

Are you sure the cams are aligned correctly?

If the belt was broken It may be wise to do a compression test. This should tell you if a valve has bent.

Does the timeing belt have to be on for the crank to turn the cam when instilling the timeing belt?

Are you replacing a broken timing belt? Or are you replacing a belt because it's due by miles? If the belt is broken, i strongly suggest inspecting for bent valves. Daewoo is notorious for bending all valves and breaking valve guides in the cylinder head when the timing belt breaks. The broken belt is also common.

How to replace a broken timing belt for a 1998 daewoo lanos?? Would there be any head damage?

yes it is quite possible that valves are bent if the cam belt broke or teeth stripped off of old belt, which unfortuneately means removing the cylinder head and getting it repaired (valves replaced and possibly guides) see some of my other posts for cam belt timming marks locations etc...
depending what motor is in your vehicle twin cam or single?

How much for a cam shaft and timing belt replacement parts & labour approx.

Did the cam break? Or are you just changing the belt? If the cam broke, you will have more damage than just the cam, the rods, valves, pistons could all be shot. Just the belt is no big deal, a shop will charge about $180, get a couple prices, find a shop that doesn't have broken cams on their bench,(bad sign). Hope this helps.

I have a 2000 plymoth breeze with no power to the coil have replaced the computer, crank ,and cam sensor what else could it be

have you checked timing belt?it may be broken..engine controller must see signals from both cam and crank sensors to close shutdown relay to send power to coil..if belt is broken, cams are not turning and there will be no signal from cam sensor..also check fuses in small fuseblock underhood..also try unplugging both oxygen sensors, they are supplied power from shutdown relay..a heater circuit in either sensor may be shorted
