Hi, I dont think that neither will cause the valves to get bend ,if the cam is 180 degrees out piston 1 and 4 are up at the same time,so if the timing chain is on the marks , pistons should not hit the valves,I think the timing chain was out one or more teth the first time you try to start the angine..C1

That is usaully the vacuum advance diaphram on the distributor. Its job to advance the distributor when at idle. The diaphrams inside rot and leak air, causing it not to advance. Take off the distributor cap and use a vacuum pump to individualy test each port (two of them) on the vacuum advance diaphram. You should see it pull back, if not replace it. They are sold at your local auto store, oddly its cheaper to get a whole distributor that has one for $100 that to get it alone for $150.

1) The valves are adjustable, but they are of the shim-type adjustment. You will need to obtain the proper shims from a dealership parts department.
2) Any Toyota dealer can, by you giving them your VIN, tell you whatever was done to the vehicle under warranty
3) There are no special service campaigns for bed replacements, nor has there ever been one. Any bed that 'was' replaced was under factory "goodwill", to maintain customer satisfaction.

22R,yes,it might might make a grand difference to how it runs,
figure 8 tho. on the intake and 10 tho. on the exhaust.
Didn't look up the specs but that will be ok.
Just a 12 mil. locknut and a flatblade screwdriver,
Easy job, just be careful, don't leave anything loose, but don't break off a rocker arm adjuster because it's too tight.
There is a sequence to adjust, but to get close ,just turn the engine till one valve is all the way open and adjust the closed one next to it(same cyl)
Cover gasket is good for another round I bet ,but a cover kit from the parts store will give you the little grommets for the studs.
