Step by step instructions

I need help installing a after market amp in my 2002 GMC Yukon. It has Onstar, No bose and a Factory amp and sub. I installed an after market stereo and the only wire I cut is the pink wire so that I could wire it in to the remote wire to turn on the stock amp. I ran the power cable from the battery and found a great ground connection. What am i doing wrong?

SOURCE: installing after market stereo

Dave,

You will need to go buy a wiring harness adapter from your local Walmart (usually cheapest there) or Local Electronics place (ie Best Buy). The wire harness that goes out from the radio goes into the Adapter and the adapter plugs into the car harnesses. Also these Adapters come with the wiring diagrams for your vehicle. They typically run 10 - 15 bucks depending on where you get them. Thanks for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

SOURCE: CAR STEREO AND CLOCK DONT WORK, LOCATION OF FUSE 25

You are correct on checking the sterio, just 12+ and ground to see if it powers up. Fuse 25, in your fuse box should be numbered. If not, just pull them one at a time to see which one got fried.

you have to get the cable that conects your factory deck harness to the aftermarket deck, and that will allow you to use your factory speakers and amp, the wire harness is availiable at canadian tire or any stereo shop

How do I bypass the OnStar?

Not the Onstar. You have an amp in it that needs rewired. Color code for wires are so different. I use an ohm meter to fix the problem. Just a note. Onstar does't work after this.

either your connectors need cleaning or maybe a break in the wiring. Is there on spot where both wires come together if so check there. If there is any plugs, pull them apart and clean them with contact cleaner

Stereo install yukon w amp and subs

Recheck your connections from deck to "non-sub" speakers. Are you using an adapter from deck to vehicle wiring harness OR are all wires individually connected?
