2008 Pontiac Montana S6 Won't Start.

2008 Pontiac Montana SV6. Tried to start this morning. Lights are on and horn going off when trying to start. Battery is at 10.4 Volts. It was very cold last night, and van was plugged in. Not sure if this is a battery or starter issue.

Sounds like the anti-theft/alarm system was triggered.
Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver door with the key to disable the alarm ?
And you need at least 12 volts to crank the engine so the battery may need to be charged up first.

For the sliding doors you need to clean the contacts, there are 6 or 8 on both sides, just wipe them clean as they are probably covered in oil/grease/grime.

SOURCE: The battery on my 2003 pontiac montana isnt

Depending on how old the battery is can determine if it needs to be changed or you have another problem that is not letting the Van start. Take the battery out and charge it slow for 8 to 12 hours, then take it to a parts store that will load test it and determine if it is ok or defective. The parts store will sell you the proper battery for your vehicle.

SOURCE: 1998 Pontiac transport van wont start:

Well you hit all the major ones, could be crank position sensor, ignition module, a bad coil pack (it should have 3), you need to check that you have spark to each plug while the engine is turning over (!!!be careful as this will hurt if you get shocked!!!), this will rule out coil packs. if you have no spark to any plug your looking at a bad ingnition module (which is what the coil packs bolt to). Hope this gets you on the right track!

SOURCE: 2005 montana sv6 remote start

Some vehicles come with a immobilizer system. Although a key works fine if it picks up interference from other electronic devices, even other keys in some cases, it will disable the vehicle from starting.

Something you can try.
Take the key, by itself, ( remove any other objects that may interefer ), put it in the ignition and turn to the ON position for 5 seconds, then turn the key to the OFF position for 5 seconds, repeat steps 1 and 2, and then try to start the car again.

I really hope this will work for you.
